Born in Apopka, Florida, on March 1, 1917, to William Goode Talton and Juliette Jeffries Pollard, she lived her entire life in Apopka and Winter Park, where her family were central Florida pioneers. She was a 1939 graduate of Stetson University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta soriety, and later worked in her father's bank, The State Bank of Apopka, until she married Richard O. Baldwin of Winter Park in 1940. After her marriage and subsequent move to Winter Park, she taught high school English at Winter Park High School for a brief time. She later retired as Librarian at both Lockhart Junior High School and Winter Park Junior High School with 25 years of service. She was a long-time member of the Winter Park Garden Club, the Women's Club of Winter Park, and the Towne Club of Winter Park. Catharine was very warm, hospitable lady who loved to garden and work in the yard of her home. She loved to entertain in her home and took great pleasure in feeding family and friends. All through her life she took joy in company for dinner, Easter egg hunts for the grandchildren, and birthday parties for family members. Catherine and Dick were members of the Buzzin' Dozen Bridge Club for more than 45 years. Of all the things that could be said about her, perhaps the most important is that she loved her children and supported them in all their endeavors to the best of her ability. In 1998, Mrs. Baldwin moved with her husband of 62 years, the late Richard O. Baldwin, to the Sugar Mill community of New Smyrna Beach where she was a member of the Glencoe Baptist Church. STOCKER, JUDITH ANN REDING ROGERS, age 58, a longtime resident of Ft. Walton Beach, died unexpectedly, May 28, 2002 at her home in Ft. Walton Beach. She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Jimmy Reding and her first husband, USAF Major Richard Rogers. Judy is survived by her parents, Ed and Marie Reding of Orange City; sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Steve Adams of Ocoee; daughter and son-in-law Deborah and John Hutson of Shalimar; son Captain Dean Rogers of Carabelle; husband of 20 years David Stocker of Ft. Walton Beach and grandchildren Lauren and Kristen Hutson of Shalimar. Judy's circle of love also includes her extended family: daughter Gail Stocker of Ft. Walton Beach; son Ken Stocker of Naples and son and daughter-in-law Randy and Darcy Stocker of Roswell, GA; sister-in-law Beth Rogers of Henderson, NV and Joan Hutson of Mary Esther; grand-children Jimmy Godwin of Ft. Walton Beach and Andrea and Michael Stocker of Roswell, GA; niece Sarah Adams and nephews Cole and Craig Rogers and John, Michael, Scott and Mark Adams. Known affectionately as "Dr. Mom" by her family, she was always on call for any illness in the family, even during her six-year battle with epilepsy and other serious illnesses. When she retired from her profession of a dental hygienist after practicing for 20 years in Okaloosa and Walton counties, she maintained close friendships with many of her former patients. Following her retirement after stricken with epilepsy, Judy became "Dr. Mom" to scores of epileptics across the nation via the internet. After her family and friends, Judy had many other interests. She enjoyed all sports, especially soccer; her favorite team, however, was not Team USA, it was the Choctawhatchee Indians. She also loved dancing, especially performances by Riverdance because they were almost as impressive as the Indianettes. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist; her favorite music was not, however, Glenn Miller's orchestra nor the Beatles, it was The Choctawhatchee Style Marchers. Judy loved cruising in her Miata, creating stained glass pieces and plants; big leafy plants that husband David had to drag into the house before each frost every winter since 1982. She loved kids, boy did she love kids; her kids, your kids, neighborhood kids, but especially during the last several years, she loved her grandchildren; Jimmy, Andrea, Michael, Lauren and the new kid on the block, five-month old Kristen. Judy loved everything about Ft. Walton Beach: the people, the roar of fighter aircraft, the drone of C-130s, the restaurants and especially the beach. She really loved the beach because it was so close to the Gulf of Mexico and 'they was fish in them thar waters.' Judy's family will celebrate her life and love at the Ft. Walton Beach Senior Center located on Memorial Drive in Ft. Walton Beach 1/2 block north of U.S. 98 behind the ballpark. All those who were touched by Judy's love and friendship are invited to join the celebration on Saturday morning, June 8th, 2002 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Casual dress, please. Sunday, 6.2.2002

BALDWIN, RICHARD ORAN, 86, died on April 18, 2002, peacefully at home. Mr. Baldwin was born in Arcadia, FL, on November 13, 1915, to Edgar Russell Baldwin and Mary Beulah Evans Baldwin. He was a fifth generation native Floridian and, except for a few months during the year of his birth and for several years during World War II, lived his entire life in Winter Park, FL. Both maternal and paternal sides of his family were territorial settlers and Central Florida pioneers. He was a 1938 graduate of Rollins College and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, and he sang in the Rollins College annual Bach Festival for many years. A natural athlete and a scratch golfer, as a young college swimmer he was a candidate for the 1936 Olympics in the high diving competition. During his youth, he was a friend to Thomas Alva Edison, inventor of the incandescent light bulb. Mr. Baldwin served in World War II in the European Theater of Operations from 1943-1946 in Gen. Alexander Patch's Seventh Army and also in Gen. George Patton's Third Army. In addition to taking part in the Battle of the Bulge, he participated in the very first wave of the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp in 1945. A humble man, he never thought that what he had done was in any way out of the ordinary, but was merely what was expected of an American. A Central Florida businessman, he served as president of the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis Club, the Florida Nurserymen and Growers Association, and as a Deacon in the First Baptist Church of Winter Park. He was active for many years in the Rollins College Alumni Association and served on that Board during the years following World War II. He belonged to Orangewood Presbyterian Church and was a hospice volunteer. He and his wife were members of the Buzzin' Dozen Bridge Club for 45 years. Mr. Baldwin was a peaceful man who disliked confrontation and sought always to avoid it, finding compromise in all things. He was a quiet, philosophical outlook on life, and he was a wonderful example of not worrying about what he could not control. His personal magnetism drew everyone to him, and he was known and loved for the quick but gentle wit, his instantaneous one-liners, and the irrepressible sense of humor that never failed him. His ability to find humor even in life's darkest moments never deserted him and greatly endeared him to those around him. His grandsons used to invite their friends over just to talk to their grandfather and hear his humourous but eminently practical take on life. In 1998, Mr. Baldwin moved with his wife to New Smyrna Beach, FL, where he was a member of the Glencoe Baptist Church. He was a beloved son, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, husband, and dear friend. Mr. Baldwin is survived by his wife, the former Catherine Pollard Talton of Apopka, FL. to whom he was married for 62 years.
