I also wanted to update my bio. I received my BS degree from The University
of Florida in 1966. I was on the athletic staff at Florida from 1966-70
as assistant sports information director; was sports information director
and assistant athletics director at Duke University from 1970 to 1976;
director of marketing and productions for the NCAA 1976-1977; returned
to Florida as associate director of athletics from 1978 to 1986; was with
Raycom Sports from 1986 to 1991; where we founded the Block Buster Bowl
in 1990; director of athletics at The University of Louisiana-Monroe from
1994 to 1999; and came to The University of Southern Mississippi as director
of athletics in 1999. I married Gayle Cross of Gainesville, Florida on
1-2-69 and we are the proud parents of four daughters, Ansley, Brittney,
Carlyn and DeLancey. The three older daughters are married and we have
five grandchildren. My youngest, DeLancey, will be a freshman at Southern
Miss the fall, 2002. We have fallen in love with Hattiesburg, Mississippi
and plan to make it our home until we retire. I hope to work another 10
years. I really enjoy college athletics and as long as my health is good,
I plan to remain active in the business. I miss all my many high school
friends and enjoy the reunions and other trips to Florida. I also try
to stay in touch with Johnny Cash, Frank Ferguson, Dewey Ramsby, Jack
Billingham and my sister-in-law, Joann Ross Giannini, on a regular basis. |
