The Last Days of Glenridge Junior High School
Presented by Tom Tobin
1/11/2003

Our running club uses Glenridge as a water stop on our long runs on Sunday mornings. We use the water fountain just outside the cafeteria. It always amazes me how little the school has changed since we went there.

The new Glenridge is under construction across the street. It is enormous and looks more like a high school than a middle school (junior high school). I'm sure our old school will come under the wrecking ball, so here is a last look at Glenridge in January, 2003. Tom Tobin

I was very sad to hear that our dear Glenridge JHS was about to come down. I still can't understand why an all brick building couldn't be referbished into offices or something useful. Lots of memories from that set of buildings - I'll try someday to put some of the memories to words and send them on to you. But, to the point, would it be possible for some of the classmates to get the School District to let them go into some of the rooms that are locked to take a bunch of other pictures we could have for the future?
I would like to see that cafeteria/multipurpose room again for I and others spent many hours in there with band practice under Mr. Edgar Williams - most of our concerts were done there. I first played the Bflat clarinet and later switched to the only bass clarinet that we had. Others there were Carol Streep, John Bordley, Carol Skelton, Randy Muir (?sp.), Lenny Kraftchick, Julie Baldwin, and a bunch more. I would love to see them just burn several rolls of film shooting anything of interest. Audubon Park, Signal Hill, Glenridge, and WPHS played a big part in making us what we turned out to be. Tom's memory about the color scheme is correct, the walls were aqua and the pillars were white - very unusual colors.
