The picture above provided by Carol Stehle (Phillips) was taken at Rollins College during the summer of 1952 or 1953. There are several age groups in this picture. There are children in the picture who attended other elementary schools beside Winter Park Elementary. We are trying to identify as many of the children as we can. I remember that my Aunt Josephine Dieffenwierth, a teacher at Winter Park Elem School, told my mother Elizabeth Reams, [owner of Elizabeth’s Dress Shop on Park Avenue] about the summer program that was to be held at Rollins College, and she got me into it. I remember being dropped off at Rollins College for the day. I believe I am no 43, Julie Reams. My sister Margo Reams, may have attended with me, she would be 2 grades behind me. I’m waiting for an e-mail from her, to see if she can identify herself in the picture. I think the people in the back were Rollins Students, doing some kind of work for the summer, probably in connection with their schooling. I could be wrong, but that is what I remember. My Uncle was James Dieffenwierth, Principal of Cherokee School. Hope this helps.
