Dear Anne,
I’ve traveled with groups, a friend and on my own.
The Aix-en-Provence was three weeks study with Smithsonian
and I previously did the same with them in Florence.
For the first six months of 2018, I was away more than at
home and one of the most evident observations was we are
making China great again. There have been many depressing
experiences for me as an American in Europe and Asia, but
I was smiling when in the steps of Cezanne. The Camp des
Milles in France was like what we are doing now. The first
people put into that camp in 1939 were escaping Hitler.
The French sent babies and children to camps even before
the Nazis did. The resilience and human desire to live is
impressive as we saw in the camp.
All my best!
Suzanne

Mount Ste Victoire in the
background. Also in Aix-en-Provence, I visited the Memorial
du Camp des Milles which has only recently been recognized
due to the horrors. I recommend reading about it. Later
took the WWII tour in Paris. Staying home now while waiting
for the birth of my sixth grandson.
