Couple
returns to Folkston for golden anniversary
Charles and
Betty Fout, of Orlando, FL, returned to Folkston last week
in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple
was married here in the Charlton County Courthouse by Justice
of the Peace William A. McQueen on September 13, 1962. “We
were rebellious kids, who ran off to get married because
her parents didn’t like me,” Charles told the
Herald last week. Betty, who was still in high school back
then, skipped school to make the trip to Georgia. While
in Folkston last week, the couple visited the courthouse
and in the same room where they were married 50 years ago
Charles presented Betty with a black diamond ring in honor
of the anniversary.
