Clare Currie Martin (Birkenmeyer) Clare Martin Birkenmeyer began her life on December 11, 1943 in Bradenton, Fla. She grew up in Winter Park and graduated from Winter Park High School. After marrying, she lived in Africa for six years, where her two daughters were born. This was a journey she deeply treasured. She then moved to Fargo, ND where she earned her Bachelor's Degree from NDSU. There, she was an active member of the community by serving as President of the United Way and also participated in the Meals on Wheels program. In 1988, Clare moved back to Florida, establishing herself in the Daytona Beach area. Here she served as Benefits Director of DBCC, then as Director of member Acquisitions for Florida Health Care Plans. She was closely involved with the Port Orange/South Daytona Chamber of Commerce and the Volusia Manufacturer's Association. She is survived by daughters Michelle Birkenmeyer of Port Orange and Lisa Birkenmeyer Horn of Clermont; grandson, Tyler Horn; and sister, Anne Stone, of Ormond Beach. Clare was a mentor to many and a loyal friend.
