Pfeiffer, Fredrick "Rick" Clinton PFEIFFER, FREDRICK "Rick" C. , 69, Greensboro, NC, died suddenly and unexpectedly September 13, 2013 while working in the sunshine around his home. Rick received both a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's in Archeology from Florida State University, and was a lifelong Seminole fan. Rick spent many happy hours cheering the Seminoles to victory, and was rarely seen without a Florida State shirt, hat, cup, pin, flag or keychain. Rick spent his entire career in service to our country, as a personnel management professional for the United States Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). Rick's career took him and his family across the nation and around the world. He was especially fond of his times living in Thailand and Germany. In 1999, Rick's lifetime of excellent service was recognized when he received the prestigious Meritorious Civilian Award. Rick retired from AAFES in 1999. In retirement, Rick enjoyed golf, walking his dogs, and spending time with his beloved wife Martha and his three children and seven grandchildren. He and Martha loved to travel and spend time at the beach and at the lake. Rick also loved spending time with Martha's large and close knit family, and got together with them often. Rick was, first and foremost, a family man. Rick was a trend setter, spending the majority of his retirement being a stay-at-home dad. In addition to raising his youngest daughter he spent time volunteering within the community. Each year he looked forward to service trips repairing homes in Appalachia for disadvantaged families. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels monthly. The world is a better place for having had Rick Pfeiffer in it, and he will be missed by his loving family and extended network of friends. Rick's life of love and service will be remembered at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Monday at (TIME). For those wishing to honor Rick's life, the family asks that donations be made in his name in lieu of flowers to Westminster Presbyterian Church Outreach Ministry, for the benefit of The Appalachian Service Project and Meals on Wheels.
