This
year, the Juniors certainly outdid themselves in transforming the
gymnasium into an oriental dreamland for the 1959 Junior-Senior
Prom, which over 400 people attended.
The theme of the Prom was "Oriental
Gardens," and the decorations carried this theme out beautifully.
The folded-up bleachers were completely hidden by expertly placed
asparagus fern, flowers, and small lights. The low ceiling of crape
paper was pink and blue. Imitation trees were placed in the four
corners of the gym and in the center. Japanese lanterns hung on
these trees. A huge gong hung at the entrance of the bym. The band,
Paul Kramm's, played against a backdrop of oriental scenes. The

piece
was truly a work of art. It consisted of a real lilhy pond with
trees and laterns around it. A bridge crossed the middle of the
pond. It was here that the pictures of couples were taken by Howard
T. Powell, photographer.
Covered bridge tables were set up
on both sides of the gym for couples to sit at. Even the cafeteria
where the refreshments were served, were decorated with dragons
on the wall, and other oriental objects.
Congratulations to the Junior Class
are certainly in order for presenting such a wonderful Prom in honor
of the Senior Class of 1959. It is one thing we all will always
remember. |
