ANN SPAULDING NAMED EXPERT

     The Expert Medal, second highest award in American Junior shooting, has been won by Ann Spaulding, age 14, a sophomore in Winter Park High School, as recently announced by the National Rifle Association.
     Shooting several hundred targets in the last few months, the new expert marksman fired her way through 13 lower National Rifle Association qualifications to achieve her new high rating. With one more set of targets to fire, the new expert will up her rating to Distinguished Rifleman, the select top rating for the junior shooters of the nation.

 

ANNUAL STAFF IN TURMOIL

     Hey, Cats! How about getting all your picture troubles and financial troubles with the annual straightened out right away. The gals on the annual staff are really having a time of it trying to keep all the records straight, and some of you are adding to their problems. Remember the annual is for you, so take it easy on the staff.
     Remember to bring in any old snapshots to turn into the annual staff. And Seniors, remember to bring in your baby pictures!
     In case you don't know who's on the staff, they are as follows: Joyce Grimm, Joan Spaulding, Carole Pfetcher, Janet Dechert, Sandy Roberts, Linda Lee, Asst., and Mrs. Tauscher, Sponsor.

SENIORS ELIGIBLE FOR CONTEST

     The Winter Park Jaycees are supporting an essay program for Seniors to enter. The subject to be written about is "What role will personal initiative and self-reliance play toward providing for your future security?" The minimum number of words accepted is 360; the maximum is 600. The write-up will be due on Monday, December 15th. First prize will be a $1000 scholarship, and second prize will be a $500 scholarship. Write-ups will have to be read. They will be graded upon content-60%; originality-30%; and delivery-10%.

 

COLLEGE BOARDS PACKED ON SATURDAY

     Many Winter Park High students turned out Saturday, December 6th at Rollins College and Boone High for the College Board Exams.
Some stayed for the afternoon achievement tests, but the majority of students took the morning aptitude test only. Some of those students seen were Carol McKinney, Bob Crane, Tom Morris, Phil Hoffmann, Carole Peterson, Jody Frutchey, Jacque Williams, Sally Bergstrom, Jim Hamilton, and many, many more.
     Results of these tests will be available in the Guidance Office in early spring.
