HORIZONS 1961 has been shared with us by Loni Abbotts Humbert. Thanks for sharing, Loni!

We say, "Away with books and what they teach!"
For us cool cats we're to see the beach.
From shiny Ford's to lazy model T's
We swarm the road like busy buzzin' bees.

From sky to palm and sand and sea we gaze.
Our sainted senior eyes behold the maze
Of soft and shiny, silver shiftin' sand
Whose particles together make the land.

From palm to palm, the sound of bongo's beat
"pa da de DA" sets rhythm in our feet.
At once we all begin to clap our hands
To limbo on the pearly, silver sands.

From sky to palm and sand and sea we gaze
To leave behind the beautiful maze.

WINTER BLANKET

A snowflake fell from darkened skies;
It danced and played in windy whirls.
Soon it lay down on the ground;
               tired and at rest.

Twas followed fast and followed faster
By its kinfolk from the sky till
All the earth
               in whiteness I lay
In sleepy cold tranquility.

The children from the village new
Bundled coats and gloves and muffs
Hurry, hurry to the snow
Lest
     it melt
          away.
