ON THE LAUNCHING OF A MISSILE

Bright, white, glaring flash I see you streaking through the velvet of midnight, Winding your way into the vastness of the stars. Into the lonely wilderness of space where no man knows your destiny. What secret worlds observe your flight? What super beings note your presence there? The cold, bleak silence keeps the mystery hidden, until some distant day the veil is lifted and all shall know the hidden meaning of the universe.

SUNLIGHT

At night, the darkness greedily enfolds the earth,
Hoping to keep it forever,
But soon it is morning,
And the darkness must yield to the sunlight.
Soft sunlight,
Shining on a baby's face,
Resting on new-mown hay,
Caressing the fragrant flowers.
Dazzling sunlight,
Sparkling on the happy water,
Making the sand of the seashore
Glisten with its brilliance.
Scorching sunlight,
Beating down on parched earth,
Withering whatever is in its path,
Relentlessly burning the feet of travelers.
Life-giving or murderous,
Man cannot rule the sunlight!

Frustration to those,
Who have a cold nose!
