HORIZONS 1961 has been shared with us by Loni Abbotts Humbert. Thanks for sharing, Loni!
LOOK AGAIN!

To the novice traveler they are but staid suspensory stakes.

Interlacing, view-obstructing, never ending stakes.

But to me, a seasoned roadman, occur as honest friends.

Please----look again, you hurried tourists;

     Look not superficially, for you will still see

                               but a TELEPHONE POLE.

     Look, and see them entwining and encircling.

     Cinching the girth of our sprawling nation;

See them as:

     Sturdy, stoic sentinels of solipsism,

     Forever filing into the horizon,

     Compliant to their physical bonds.

YOU ARE MY BROTHER
You are my brother;
athough it may not be
by race, color nor creed.
"Why is this possible," you ask, and
in reply I answer:
     By He who gave His
     life so that you
     and I may believe
     in the bond of
     human fellowship
     and brotherhood
     which all men must conceive.

IT'S GREAT TO BE ALIVE

From the morning's hazy hue,
the golden sun comes shining thru.
First I stretch and then I yawn,
then roll out to greet the dawn.

Another day comes into being,
and all my friends, I'll be seeing.
No complaint, if I work 'til five,
Because it's great to be alive.
