FRANK WILLIAM II, February 26, 1965 - December 15,
2018 In the first hour of Saturday, December 15, 2018, Frank
William Ferguson II (Bill), 53, lost his valiant battle to cancer
surrounded by those who loved and supported him. Bill's voice
and vision will continue to be heralded by his wife, Maria Dellosa
Ferguson, his daughters Arielle Sarah (26), and Ryan Cecilia
(13), his son William Beauregard "Beau" (12); Bill's
brother Rick Monroe & wife Darci; Bill's mother, Jean Ferguson;
and his father & wife, Frank
Beauregard & Margaret Ferguson;
Bill's stepsister Kristy Harper and stepbrother James Townsley;
and Bill's in-laws, the Dellosa family. Bill was born on February
26, 1965 in Gainesville, Florida. An exemplary civil and entertainment
litigator and transactional attorney for nearly two decades,
Bill built a life and a home in Los Angeles having lived in
other venues such as England, Kansas, Connecticut and North
Carolina. Bill graduated with a bachelor's degree in business
administration from Flagler College where he played on the Flagler
rugby team and convinced a professor to give him full academic
credit for sailing rather than attend conventional classroom
instructions. Bill's business pursuits produced such accomplishments
as Fergusons' Location Library, Set Design Construction and
other ventures including Roxx Vodka and countless others, organically
created by coordinating the talents of Bill's many friends and
professional colleagues. Bill was blessed with the birth of
Arielle in October of 1992. In 1996, Bill met Maria, the love
of his life, at University of La Verne College of Law and they
married on May 8, 2004; soon after, rounded out Bill's family
with Ryan, born in January of 2005, William "Beau, born
in May of 2006, and adopted dogs named Judge and Wrigley. Maria,
currently an attorney for the County of Los Angeles Child Support
Services Department, provided the perfect complement to Bill's
sense of endless adventure and helped to settle Bill into a
life of stability and security. Much as he was devoted to his
friends and family, Bill was more than a loyal fan to his treasured
Chicago Cubs, Bears, & Bulls, and the Florida Gators. Bill
played baseball in his young years and in his adult years, Bill
loved to play a round of golf, to take a sailboat out on the
ocean, to cook up a storm, and was rarely found without his
new found love - his camera -memorializing the moments of his
life that he was so proud to share with the world. There was
never a father more committed or proud to support his children's
academic or extracurricular pursuits. Bill was an extraordinary
spirit whose voice will never be silenced by his physical absence.
His wisdom and charm will be long remembered by those who cherish
his vivid memory. He will long be remembered for his wit, compassion
and generosity.

SMITH,
JAN JARRETT, age 74, passed away peacefully on December
12, 2018 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, South
Carolina, after a brief but fierce battle against cancer. Her
beautiful life and spirit will forever be cherished by her husband,
David Smith and
two daughters, Amy Ely and Erin Hockett; her mother, Jeane Jarrett;
brother, Jimmy Jarrett; sister, Jennifer Jarrett; son-in-law,
Dan Hockett of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Connie
Jarrett; and five grandchildren, Jarrett Ely, Keira Ely and
Reed Ely of Atlanta, Georgia and Grace Hockett and David Hockett
of Charlotte, North Carolina. Jan was born on November 15, 1944,
in Cuthbert, Georgia to James “Jim” and Jeane (McCauley)
Jarrett. In 1962, she graduated from Albany High School, and
in 1966, she graduated from The University of Georgia where
she studied Fine Arts. Jan met her sweetheart, David Smith,
in Atlanta shortly after graduation from college. Jan and David
were united in holy matrimony on August 19, 1967, celebrating
their 51st wedding anniversary this year. In their early years
of marriage, they explored the west, seeing many of the natural
wonders of this country, inspiring love, photography, art and
adventure. She was blessed with the birth of her two daughters,
in 1973 and 1974, and put her heart and soul into being their
mother. There were many years of blazing roads less traveled
and lots of fun and adventure, retirement bringing the luxury
of a slower pace at which to explore. During the summer of 2017,
Jan, David, Amy, Erin and families, celebrated their 50 years
of marriage with a commemorative trip to Montana, God’s
Country. A talented artist by passion, training and profession,
Jan started her career as a young painter selling her works,
mostly oils on canvas, lithographs and acrylics. After many
years and two daughters later, she decided to share her love
of art by teaching, and was a beloved teacher of art, painting,
drawing, ceramics and photography at Leesburg High School for
over 20 years. Kids and peers adored her for her talents, openness,
warm heart, feisty nature, and sense of humor. Throughout her
career, but particularly in retirement, she loved painting for
friends and family, and was prolific in watercolors during that
time. She explored any and all medium, and often shared impromptu
lessons and art time with her grandchildren. Her home, her fashion
sense and her gardens were always a reflection of her colorful,
free-spirited and imaginative aesthetic. Throughout her life,
she was known to be an artist, a traveler, an explorer, an avid
snow skier, hiker and lover of nature, golfer, creator, and
family person. She lived life to the fullest, with a genuine
love for her family and friends. To know Jan was to love Jan.
She had a way with people, of all ages. She has been described
as an angel, a saint, and a fighter. She was authentic, salt
of the Earth, strong, brave, resilient, kind, warm, tender-hearted,
sweet, silly, free-spirited, wise, dedicated, loyal, feisty
and honest. She brought so much joy and laughter to those who
knew her. Her husband and two daughters received her greatest
devotions, her selfless and giving spirit boundless at every
turn. She was an extremely spiritual and faithful person, and
was a devoted member of Saint James Episcopal Church in Leesburg
Florida, volunteering her heart, her time and her talents for
decades. Her spirit lives on in all of us. Her presence is abundant
everywhere we turn. We will miss her dearly, but know that in
time, we will join her again in God’s heavenly kingdom.
A Celebration of Life was held at Saint James Episcopal Church
in Leesburg, Florida on January 5, 2019, at 11:00am in her honor.
Immediately following the service, in the Saint James Parish
Hall, there will be a reception to commemorate Jan’s paintings
and her life, with refreshments and time to greet family. In
lieu of flowers, memorials and donations may be made to Wayne
T. Patrick Hospice House at Hospice and Community Care: https://hospicecommunitycare.org/give-back/
or mail to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill,

ORR,
WILLIAM H., JR., 10/14/1923-10/6/2018, DeLand, passed
away peacefully October 6, 2018, eight days shy of his 95th
birthday. He was born in Danville, Virginia and grew up in DeLand.
After graduating from high school in June of 1941 he joined
the Marine Corps and served the entire World War II in the Pacific.
After the war, he returned to DeLand, enrolling at Stetson and
playing football. Soon thereafter he met and fell in love with
an attractive blonde named Mary Elizabeth Swanson and June 3,
1947 they were married at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Pierson.
After graduation from Stetson, Bill was called back to active
duty in 1950. He served as a drill instructor at Camp Lejeune
for two years during the Korean War and then served as a casualty
officer during Vietnam. He remained in the Marine Corps Reserves
until 1978, retiring with the rank of Sergeant Major. In 1952
Bill was hired as a biology teacher and football coach at Winter
Park High School. He served as head football coach from 1957-1965
and athletic director from 1957-1969. He continued to coach
J.V. football until his retirement in 1985. He also coached
J.V. basketball, golf, tennis and swimming. He started the first
high school weightlifting team in Central Florida, initially
making his own weights with concrete in buckets. He was a member
of the WPHS Sports Hall of Fame and was a life member of the
Florida Athletics Coaches Association. Coach Orr was an imposing
figure. One of the players on his first team, Bob Richmond said,
"When Coach Orr came to Winter Park, he looked like he
was chiseled out of stone." He continued to maintain a
rigorous workout regimen well into his 90's. He was a tough,
sometimes gruff Marine with a dry wit and all the qualities
necessary to equip him as a master of "Creative Disciplinary
Methods." But he was beloved by the thousands of young
people and faculty members who knew him as a man of integrity
and honor, and eventually learned he was actually a teddy bear
at heart... He was a molder of men. Bill died three weeks after
his bride, Mary Elizabeth Swanson Orr. They were inseparable
sweethearts for 71 years. He was also predeceased by his brother,
Thomas Watson Orr and his son William H. "Billy" Orr,
III. Bill is survived by his daughter and caregiver, Debra Sue

Written by Jerry E. Clark:
(2/27/22018)
Maybe the fact that I've either written or
published more than 15,000 obituaries now, the process is
beginning to bother me. And so it is that the recent death
of Chip Schram of Lexington falls into the category of "we've
just lost one heck of a great man." The well-known Boy
Scout leader was a seasoned Air Force veteran, patriot and
was possessed of a wonderful common sense attitude. We need
such men in our lives and in our communities. My sincere condolences
to his family. He touched all our lives with a gentility,
a sense of fairness and competence. We shall miss him a great
deal.

MOORE, CLARENCE WAYNE,
July 25, 1943 - January 18, 2018. “My genius, giant brother,
Wayne, is no longer with us. Wayne was always a head taller
and 100 hundred pounds heavier than me. At the age of 2 1/2
Wayne miraculously survived 3rd degree burns over three-fourths
of his body. This was due to our Mother’s round-the-clock
loving and constant care coupled with the fact that Wayne’s
body size was that of a six year old! Wayne was two and a half
years older than me; yet, he allowed me to tag along with him.
We shared many adventures together. Wayne taught me practically
every card game “according to Hoyle.” We played
baseball, basketball, football, softball, paddle ball, ping
pong, miniature golf, bowling, duck pins, stick ball, pool,
pin ball, and a myriad of other arcade games and activities
together. While living on Long Island, New York we built a massive
snow fort together during the Thanksgiving Blizzard of 1950.
Relocating to Central Florida in 1952, we enjoyed salt and fresh
water fishing, going to Daytona Beach’s Boardwalk, building
Model Airplanes, collecting stamps, together. Wayne taught me
many board games: “Go to the Head of the Class”
(as adults, we both became educators); “Rich Uncle”
(as adults, we both became Stock Brokers); Chess competition
began at age six (as adults, we both excelled); and many other
stimulating board games. Wayne, along with Bobby Cross, Jackie
Billingham, and Dewey Ramsay served as Umpires for my Little
League Baseball games. After which, Wayne and Dick Pechin (Bonnie’s
and Bunny’s older brother) played an entire ‘season’
of Ethan Allen’s All-Star Baseball Board Game with Wayne
computing statistics for all players’ results! We would
later play several ‘seasons’ together—rainy
days and after dark into the wee hours... Wayne became a member
of a Rocket Club after the Sputnik surprise and was elected
President of the Science Club. He was a Chem II assistant to
Dr. Bender at WPHS and assisted Dr. Helwig in teaching Freshman
Chemistry at Rollins College. Wayne played Tackle on WPHS Varsity
Football Team, was a member of the Track Team (Shot Put), and
graduated with a “Rigid Academic” Diploma while
working part-time at the Golden Point Hamburger Stand. Wayne
was elected as “Master Councilor” of the WP Order
of DeMolay. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam
War and worked as a Computer Expert for IBM. We served as each
other’s “Best Man” for our initial weddings.
Wayne was an active Church Member and translated parts of the
Bible from its original Greek! Wayne’s marriage to Bonnie
Boone lasted some 48 plus years! Wayne and Bonnie were living
together on the 100 year old Moore family Ranch in the Texas
Hill Country at the time of his death. Wayne was put to rest
in the Fort Sam Houston Military Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas
on February 8, 2018. He is survived by
Bonnie Boone Moore, and their two daughters:
Mary McCrady and Penelope Moore and his brother, Randy Moore.”
Submitted by: Randy Moore (WPHS Class of 1964) Wayne’s
brother. |

in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of Heskin and Elizabeth
Whittaker. She graduated from Winter Park High School and attended
Montreat College in North Carolina. While she worked over 40
years as a legal secretary, the loves of her life were her family,
her church and the many friendships she felt blessed to have

Tony Roth, enjoyed countless miles and adventures on the road
with the Classic MG Club of Orlando and the shenanigans at the
"GOF." A charter member of WP Presbyterian Church,

CREECH,
EDWIN "ED" DESSO, born February 17, 1926;
passed away February 12, 2017. Most knew him as Mr. Creech,
that's what comes from 32 years of teaching. We knew that wherever
we were out with Dad we could expect to hear an excited shout
out, "Mr. Creech! " with a fond hug or hearty handshake
to follow and then "You were the best teacher I ever had…
Thank you so much." At home he was a loving and wise father.
He began his teaching career at Orlando High School 1950-52.
Then taught 25 years at Winter Park High School finally retiring
after five years at West Orange HS. He taught history, economics,
and government. His unique style of great story telling made
the politics of the day and facts of the past a joy to learn.
His classes were always in high demand and overloaded. At one
point he moved his lectures to the auditorium so he could accommodate
all the students signed up. He has left those he touched with
stories and memories that will never be forgotten. Edwin Desso
Creech passed away Feb 12, 2017. He was born in Laurinburg,
NC, February 17, 1926 the only child of Gladys T. Creech and
Edwin D. Creech. He left for NC State at the age of 17 as WWII
was underway. While at college he signed up for the navy and
was shipped out to the pacific front as a radioman aboard a
PB-4Y2 patrol bomber based on Okinawa, Iwo Jima and Tinian.
His stories of the war did not dwell on the horrors of war but
on the friendships he made, the amazing things he experienced
and the absurdities of war. After the war Ed obtained a Bachelors
degree from Stetson University and his masters degree in economics
from Rollins College. He settled in Orlando and besides teaching,
owned and operated a toy store in Winter Park and invested in
real estate. He was a thrifty man and invested wisely. He was
very proud of the fact that on a teacher's salary and investments
he was able to retire comfortably at age 55. Ed's fighting spirit
and sense of fair play was evident in all he did. He actively
fought for teacher raises in the 1968 teachers strike. He lead
an effort to bring in African American teachers to Winter Park
High, mentoring Dr. Alzo Reddick when he came to his department
. They remained great friends until his death. He built a cabin
on the St Johns with materials salvaged from local restaurants
going out of business. On the 50 acres there he established
a small herd of cattle. He grew to love his cows and gave them
all names. See Orlando Sentinel 9/14/03 story. He rarely spent
money on himself but was generous to his family and those in
need. He was preceded in death by his first wife Shadie Beardall
mother of their 3 children and by his 2nd wife Sarah H. Creech.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Creech, his three children
Becky Davis, Shadie Creech, and Harald Creech, 6 grandchildren
and 8 great grandchildren. Services will be held at 3PM on Sat
Feb 18 at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd,
Gotha, FL 34734 all friends and family are welcome. In lieu
of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's
Association 378, Center Point Circle, Suite 1280, Altamonte

WRENN,
ANN TOMENA CHRISTENSON, 101, of Orlando, FL, died at
10:20am on Sunday, 23 October 2016 at Orlando Regional Medical
Center, Orlando, Florida. She was 101 years old. For several
years she had lived at Westminster Towers Health Center, Orlando,
moving there from her home at The Oaks in Deland, Florida. Her
funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 31, 2016 in

will be buried behind the Church in her family graveyard.
Ann, born 18 Feb 1915 in Jonesboro, Texas, was
the next to the youngest child of Peter L. Christenson and Cora
Rohne. She received her nursing degree from Providence Hospital
School of Nursing in Waco, Texas and met her future husband,
Dr. Simeon Mayo Wrenn while they were both working at the VA
Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas; he was a surgeon and she
was a surgical nurse. Ann loved her homes,
especially 610 Palmer Avenue, Winter Park, Florida where she
lived most of her life. She raised her family here and was very
involved in the community. She and Dr. Wrenn bought a lot on
Lake Osceola and contracted builders from North Carolina to
construct the home with aged bricks from old North Carolina
kilns. The home was a warm and inviting place for the family
and friends. To escape the Florida heat they had a summer cabin
built for the family in Candler, NC in the mountains near Asheville
with a distant view of Mt. Pisgah. Ann
was a calm, happy and tranquil woman who loved her flowers and
her gardens. She enjoyed antiquing, refinishing furniture, needlepoint,
oil painting, quilting, sewing and was proficient in all of
these skills. She decorated with pale colors with an eye to
comfort and ease. She wanted her visitors to feel perfectly
at home. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren
will forever remember her as being devoted to each of them,
taking sincere interest in all of their activities and talents.
She loved their visits and is remembered as cooking wonderful
meals - particularly the roast beef dinners and the oatmeal
raisin cookies. Ann's granddaughter Katherine remembers, "There
are so many wonderful memories of Granny. She was a beautiful
woman who had this inner light. This was evident in the sparkle
in her eyes and the smile that she always wore. She was forever
the gracious hostess, and always had special meals planned if
we were in for a visit. She always wore a smile." There
are special family memories of many summer and fall visits with
her in her charming home in Hendersonville, NC. She is profoundly
missed by her children: Nancy Ann
Wrenn Starcher
and Dr. Simeon M. Wrenn, Jr., both living in North Carolina;

McAuliffe, Tallahassee, FL and Ethan and Aidan Butler of Johns
Island, SC. Our Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother began
life on a citrus plantation just outside of Havana where she
lived for the first twelve years of her life, returning to the
U.S. with her family to Memphis and then to Winter Park, where
she lived with her grandmother and attended Winter Park High
School. Following graduation, she and her grandmother spent
two years in Europe, living in Paris and traveling extensively.
While there she graduated from a stenography school (and, much
later, worked as a stenographer for the Dean of Women at Rollins).
Returning from France to Winter Park, she and our father were
re-acquainted and married in 1936, and much of the next 25 or
so years were spent rearing and nurturing two sons. She had
always enjoyed the arts and, in her eighties, took up painting
and became quite good at it. When a stroke last year hindered
her reading she obtained a Nook, and it was always with her;
she had at least three books she was actively reading on it
at any given time. She was a caring person who always seemed
to be more concerned about others than herself; she had a wonderful
and sharp sense of humor and insight which she kept until her
passing and used in a way that was never incompatible with her
underlying kindness toward everyone. She especially loved animals,
had three very fortunate dogs as pets, at least a dozen cats
(not all at once, of course), and supported just about anything
that would improve animal welfare. Finally, having been close
to a grandmother who was born before the Civil War, she was
a remarkable link to the past and a rich source of family stories
and history. We dearly miss her! A brief grave-side service
will be held at 11am Wednesday September 24 at Palm Cemetery
in Winter Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. Please visit and sign the
on-line guest book at www.baldwinfairchild.com |
