ALUMNI
RETURN |
Because of crowded class
rooms, Mr. Stockard has hired three more
teachers. They are Mr. Val Weisner who
will teach math, English, and social studies;
Mr. Norris Miner, who will teach math
and social studies; and Miss Deborah Mosher,
who will teach Mrs. Pollard's 7th and
9th grade English classes.
There
is also a possibility that Glenridge might
add new sections in the 8th and 9th grades.

STUDENTS
FLOCK
TO FIRST DANCE
In
spite of the wet weather, and a few hot tempers
the Get Acquainted Dance, given September 20
was a smashing success.
A
good selection of popular music was played,
and at 9:00 P.M. the members of the Royal School
of Dance gave a delightful entertainment.

The
LIONS meet their first team at Harper-Shepperd
Field, October 3, at 7:30 PM.
A
record crowd is expected for this initial game
of the season, and students are urged to purchase
their tickets before going to the game. Student
tickets are .30 and adults .60.
Come
and bring your parents. They'll enjoy it.
WATER
BALLET
MEETS == LANGFORD
The
Langford Pool on Wednesday nights between 7:30
and 8:30, is the scene for many Glenridge mermaids
to work. These energetic maids are training to
be a unit of the Acqua Stars, a large organization
of girls who perform water ballets.
When
completely trained, these girls will be in professional
shows. Any money earned will be split between
the Langford, the instructors, the director, and
the stars. Part of the training will be a brief
course in modeling, and the experience of designing
the costumes they will wear in the shows.
Joann
Ross and Susan Chace come in from Maitland to
the rehearsals. Jeannie Jones and Lynn Ricks are
becoming real masters of the underwater art. Paul
Nagel, Judy Reding, Heather Marwick are the seals.
Linda Schmidt, Jackie Cook, Mary Ann Brown, and
Judy Teague are eager puppies. |
The
seventh grade and all transfer students were assembled
on September 25, for a program explaining the
several awards given each year.
Last
year's award winners returned from Winter Park
High School and Edgewater High School to tell
the qualifications each honor award required.
BOB
SUTPHEN told about the American Legion Award.
Michael Winniger explained the Sportsmanship Award
he was given. Mike Mosher described the qualities
necessary to achieve the best Athlete Award. Mike
Stearman told the purpose of the Rotary Club Merit
Award, and Lois Rayl spoke on Glenridge's Citizenship
Award.
These
Honor Society members performed a skit to inform
the students about the high standards necessary
to be elected to Honor Society: Sandra Wilson,
Richard Winslow, Steve Van Ore, Nancy Lundahl,
David Eckardt, and Noralee Reicherts. |
GLENRIDGE
GIRLS ON WDBO - TV |
Members
of Glenridge's Homemaking classes presented a
program, HOW TO CARE FOR THE SICK, on WDBO-TV,
September 28, at 12:15 P.M.
Participating
were Sandy Flowers, Sandy Cash, Joann Horvath,
Becky Thornton, Diane Anderson, Joann Ross, Bonnie
Boone, Mona Barnhart, Karen Rothrock, Gail Shipley,
Judy Reding, Carol McConnell, and Marilyn Henderson.
|
The
program was based on a study course now being
given at Glenridge under the direction of Miss
Darlene Bowen, Director of Nursing Service of
Orange County Chapter of the Red Cross. It is
a new approach to teaching home nursing and Glenridge
is the only school in the area privileged to use
it this year.
On
November 2 at 12:15 P.M. other Glenridge girls
will present a sequel to this program on WDBO-TV.
DONT MISS IT! |
