WE'RE SORRY

19 - 0

Glenridge made up for last week's defeat by trouncing St.James 19-0.

The first quarter was the only scoreless quarter in the game for the Lions. Near the end of the second quarter linebacker Max Morris intercepted a St. James pass and romped 40 yards to score. Gene Mooney tried the extra point but missed. As the half ended the Lions were leading 6-0.

In the latter part of the third quarter, Steve Toothaker pushed up the middle to score again for Glenridge. This time Mooney made the point.

In the fourth quarter, with two seconds left in the game, Bill Buttery sprinted 55 yards to score once more. Mooney missed the extra point.

PTA  HOLDS
FIRST  MEETING

Glenridge's P.T.A. held its first meeting of the year on October 21 at 8 PM.

The parents met in their child's homeroom, and followed the daily schedule. At the end of the "sixth period" parents and teachers gathered in the cafetorium, where a regular business meeting was conducted and the budget voted on.

Members of the Safety Patrol were given many compliments for the efficient manner in which they directed the traffic.

Twenty three girls entered the Homemaking Cherry Pie Contest on October 24. They were: Mary Jane Ezzard, Sharon Howell, Pat Warr, Barbara Ferguson, Carolyn Rayburn, Mona Barnhart, Lynn Neidig, Gail Shipley, Martha Grove, Marilyn Logue, Linda Anglin, Aurora Morgan, Mary Phillips, Connie Shoup, Donna Frome, Betsy Rolland, Betty Sory, Sue Trapnell, Robin McKenzie, Paula Nagel, Karen Rothrock, Carol Graham, and Harriet Sullivan.

The pies were judged on both the crust and filling by out-of-school judges.

Karen Rothrock was awarded the first prize, Carolyn Rayburn the second, and Betty Sory the third prize.

Karen will compete with winners from other schools in the area on November 2. If she wins in this competition she will compete in the district, then the state, and finally on a national competition. The winner of the national competition will receive many fine prizes and also present the prize winning pie to the president.

Karen Rothrock will be on TV November 2 at 2:00 PM.

Our Homemaking Department will again present a program on WDBO TV on Nov. 2. This program, which will be seen at 12:0 Noon, will demonstrate experiences in eighth grade Homemaking, and examples of the home projects.

The Kilt wishes to apologize for misspelling Pam Paddock's name on the "B" Honor Roll, and Maurine Doggett's name on the "A" Honor Roll. Gail Stapley, 8-10 and Becky Mitchell, of 8-6 were left off the "B" Honor Roll.

WALTER FARLEY
WILL SPEAK

Mr. Walter Farley, author of the popular Black Stallion series and other books, will meet Glenridge students at two assemblies on November 4.

Mr. Farley is in the area as a visiting author at the Central Florida Book Fair, running November 2 through 6 at the Garden Center in Orlando.

Born in Syracuse, New York, Mr. Farley attended Mercerburg Academy and Columbia University. He has always been fond of horses and had plenty of opportunity to study them because his uncle raised racers and jumpers.

While Mr. Farley is at Glenridge he will autograph the many books of his we have in our library. Students who own Farley books will be given the opportunity to have Mr. Farley sign them.
