Dear
Class of '58:
As
I look back on the past three years it seems just a moment since
we first assembled in the "theatre" at Signal Hill,
with a few more than 400 pupils and 212 teachers to start a new
junior high school. Those of you who were there will also remember
the dreary-looking place with the holes in the walls, the long
walks from class to class, the dancing in the open-air gym, and
the extra long classes when it rained.
I
am accused, perhaps justifiably, of demanding perfection. While
we can not yet say that we have attained that goal, it is only
with the cooperation of you pupils, the faculty, and the community
that we have achieved as much as we have. At the time of our first
meeting I made the statement that we were going to set up the
best junior high school. I feel that we have come close to doing
just that.
You,
the first full class which has been through Glenridge, are leaving
us in body, but we hope that you will remain with us in spirit,
or at least take the Glenridge spirit with you wherever you may
go.
Sincerely,
AES:ar
