SCHOOLBOY'S LAMENT
A
woman is my teacher, I shall not pass.
She maketh me to sit in the classroom.
She leadeth me to the blackboard.
She handeth me the chalk.
She guideth me in a straight path for my
grade's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of
the Shadow of Knowledge,
I will nto learn, for I am too dumb.
My notebook and pencil accompany me.
She maketh me to show my ignorance before
my classmates.
She filleth my head with examples.
My fountain pen runneth over.
Surely Latin and history shall follow me
all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the tenth grade forever!
