Winter
Park cagers travel to Titusville tonight to face
the Terriors in their first outing of the '58-59'
basketball season.
Under the close eye of
Coach Bill Gordon, some 40 boys participated in
the tryouts held over the past month.
Gordon, a former Rollins
grad, waited until the grid season had come to
a close to make the final choices for his squad.
Only two players from
the Parker's football team will be carried on
the varsity. Quarterback Mike Mosher, also a standout
for Edgewater in three sports last year, and end
Tom Morris are Gordons two choices from the 'Cats
gridiron.
Others on this years'
team are returning lettermen Ronnie Cayll, Bill
DeGarmo, and Lee Gartside. Transfer student Irving
Broughton, a member of the Apopka team that defeated
the Wildcats in last years OBC tournaments, has
shown up very good in practice.
Six players from last
years JV team are among this years varsity choices.
They are: Beaner Howden, Dan Wiser, Jim Pascoe,
John Fly, Porter Spangler and Morris.
Larry Reiche, who did
not participate in basketball last year has impressed
Coach Gordon very much. He is expected to see
action at one of the forward slots. |
