WILDCATS OPEN BASEBALL SEASON

Coach Bill Gordon's Wildcat baseball team hopes to do as well this year as last, omitting the last game (which we would all like to forget!)
With six returning lettermen Coach Gordon hopes to have the nucleus of a good ball club. The six are: catcher Mike Hopkins; shortstop, John Jane; second baseman, Lee Gartside; first baseman, Gene Howden; outfielder, Steve King; and ace right-hander, Bear Cayll. All are at the same positions they were last year except Jane, who is switching from center field. Also returning are pitchers Dan Harmeling, Bill Blackburn, and pitcher-outfielder John Fly.
Also expected to help a lot are: Seniors, Jay Rogers, outfield; and Bill DeGarmo, third base; Juniors, James Mayer, and Charlie Pence, pitchers; and Murray Osgood, catcher. Sophomores include Neil Haldeman, third base; Richard Winslow, catcher; Dewey Ramsby, shortstop; Al Fesus, second base; Greg Holland, outfield; and Ray Myers, pitcher.
With seven pitchers, Coach Gordon has the depth needed to carry the Wildcats to another fine season.
