EXCHANGE NEWS

Not too many of us know or have any idea as to what life is like behind the iron curtain, but the history students at H.B. Plant High School, Tampa, got the story straight from the "horse's mouth" on the 12 of January. The "horse" was Princess Caradja of Rumania, who escaped from her country in 1951.
Also Corry Megla, a 17 year old student at Boone, could tell you a great deal about life under Communists' rule. It was only a year and a half ago that Corry and her parents escaped from East Germany. Both these girls are happy to be in the United States where they are able to enjoy the freedom, which we, as Americans, take so much for granted.
Forrest Sherman High School in Naples, Italy, may have a representative in the 1964 Olympics. He is a junior at the present time and hopes to run the 200 meter dash. His name is Preston Parker and he set two track records last year at the meet in Vicenza.
Dearborn High School, Dearborn, Michigan, had a graduation class in January. Count it be that they have a 12-month school year???
From Coral Gables High School comes the astounding fact that the fellows are no longer wearing their pants so painfully tight. This could give them a better chance with the opposite sex because it enables these would-be-Romeos to bend and pick up the fallen handkerchief.
Other fashion notes from Coral Gables are the wearing of ponchos with short skirts (the girls of course), and the fact that shoes are becoming more and more pointed. With this in mind, how could you like to have a kick in the seat?? (the boys of course).
CATS BREAK SLUMP
By Chip Schram
Fouls, fouls, and more fouls!! Well fans, Winter Park is beginning to develop a lost cause towards fouls as they can't seem to keep their paws off the opposing player with the ball.     Anyway, this reporter has seen poorer games officiated than the one played last Friday night in Sanford against the Seminoles. The Cats lost their ninth and tenth last week compared to their seven wins thanks to the DeLand Bulldogs who visited us last Friday night, the score of that game was 81-45
The other scores were 48-43, and Sanford 54-48.
Alone in the fourth quarter of the Lakeview game the Cats were called on 10 fouls and all the foul shots were good for Winter Garden. A freeze developed in the last two minutes of the game against Winter Park which ended any worth while press.
Winter Park was defeated in the new Sanford gym due mostly to a little guy named Perides who just has what it takes to sink those long ones from the outside. Putting a fine performance against Sanford was Jackie Billingham who hit or 14 pts. and Rusty Doolittle who was on his toes with 10 pts.
Poor DeLand never had a chance against Winter Park's Ramsby, Burris and Collier who all hit for 14 points.     The only thing that kept the Bulldogs alive were foul shots. The score was 81-46. Lance Howden had his first big night, hitting for 3 pts.
Hollywood Here

There seems to be great and original talent at our school. We may have promising dancers and actors right here at Winter Park, who knows?
Do you remember hearing over the intercom last week for the boys in "Dying Petunia Ballet" to report for a meeting after school? Well, they did and they really didn't know exactly know what they were getting themselves into.
Now, through their gracefulness and showmanship, these boys were on television in the Cerebral Palsy Telethon, February 4, between 11:00 and 12:00, channel 6.
They were very excited about the whole thing and I'm sure that you would have been just as proud watching them audition as I was.
    Good luck boys and Thanks!!!
