"Salve ad Orco" -- welcome to Orcus -- was the greeting in the Roman banquet last Friday night. In keeping with the theme of the banquet the Underworld, the cafeteria was transformed into a replica of heaven and hell. Dark lighting at one end emphasized the grotesque murals, and Spanish moss, while potted plants, and murals of meadows and flowers as a contrast decorated the other end.
Both guests and club members donned the toga and stola, the official Roman garb. Mrs. and Mrs. Eloquin appeared in their 20 B.C. gowns, while Mr. Wilson came in his twentieth century Roman dress.
For dinner the Glenridge Roman slaves served shrimp, chicken, string beans, nuts and rolls, all of which were eaten with fingers. These slaves were also commanded between their

The State Class A Swimming meet was held Saturday, May 6, in Leesburg. The swimmers arriving Friday night included representatives from all over Florida.
Winter Park swimmers in the finals were Jimmy Stokes (100 yd. butterfly), Sally Tyler (100 yd. freestyle), Jeannie Britt (100 yd. breaststroke), Patsy Temple (50 yd. freestyle), the members of the girl's medley relay team, and boy's freestyle relay team. Relay team members included Jeannie Britt, Bobbi Sias, Patsy Temple and Sally Tyler; the boys team consisted of Robert Finfrock, Chuck Libby, Fred Robinson and Jim Stokes.
The girl's medley relay final event was particularly exciting because at the start, Winter Park was ceded for the first place. However, this honor was doubtful at the end of the first 50 yards when Bobbie Sias finished putting Winter Park in third place. Jeannie Britt, swimming second with the breast stroke, brought Winter Park to a tie for first with the two other teams. Patsy Temple, swimming third with butterfly, pulled in to give Winter Park a small lead. Then Sally Tyler, anchor man on the freestyle, sprinted in to give Winter Park a thrilling first place in the State Meet Relay event.
In the over all team points, Winter Park placed third in the State Meet. The two top teams were the Ransom boy's team, placing first, and the Pine Crest girl's team, placing second.

frequent bows, to entertain their masters with dances.
Highlights of the banquet were: the march of the Vestal Virgins, readings by Rita Dunn, and a fashion show including both males and females. The play "The Eternal Triangle" was presented for entertainment by an all male cast. This comedy was written two years ago by WPHS students and has been presented each year at the annual banquet. Mark Loeb and George Fisher were the leads, Cleopatria and Caesar respectively.
Much later, the weary Romans invaded Ronnie's restaurant for some good old American atmosphere and food.

Fads 'n Fashions

The hot weather has brought with it a cool and attractive fashion, spaghetti strap dresses. This version of the sunback is really cool when the mercury reaches into the nineties. They are particularly attractive to the fashion conscious boys who have voiced their approval.
Another popular item with the girls is the "culottes". However, the male specie at WPHS think that longer skirts are more becoming.
The WPHS boys have been seen sporting Bermudas and clashing shirts in some of the gayest plaids and prints (madras). Those continental Bermudas really look sharp. The girls approve.
