TAKE HEED
Sometimes during eternity,
While records are being broken,
And skyscrapers are being built,
And satellites are being launched,
And miracles are being synthesized,
And man is realizing how wonderful..
He is,
Along comes a Copernicus,
Or a Pavlov, or a Freud,
Just in the nick of time
To pop man's bulging ego;
And now it's about that time again
For man is getting too wise.

PORTRAIT OF A BLACK CAT

A mass of darkness lurking there
Reclining in a matching chair,
Relaxing in security,
Enveloped in tranquility;

Two emerald lights from his darkness gleam
And tho' indifferent they may seem,
Behind them looms a tender heart
With grave devotion to impart.
And as he's viewed in this repose
One finds it easy to suppose
His dignity is so well bred
This house, not ours, is her instead.

A CATHEDRAL VIEW
BY... Ann Spaulding '61
A cathedral bell is chiming
     Through the shire.
Each persistent note is climbing;
A cathedral bell is chiming.
Every toll aside is timing
     The grand choir.
A cathedral bell is chiming
     Through the shire.
Infinity

The night is cool and crisp and young
     The moon up in the sky is hung.
The dark is flecked with a starry cast,
     Always and forever it will last.
For time is an element which stars never know:
     And as they wish, they come and go.

A Comet flashes by on its silvery flight
     Streaking the sky of the cool frosted night.
Venus of love, an unforgettable sight,
     Cats on the world a soft, dim light.

So stars will shine as the decades slip by
     Though they all will fade as dawn draws high.
