THE KILT

 OH, MY ACHING BACK!

The coaches here at Glenridge are really giving the boys Phys. Ed. classes a hard time.

For the past few weeks they have been working on push-ups, sit-ups, and 50 yard dashes. There have been rumors flying that someone is taking off for Washington to see if we can get the child labor laws enforced. You may want to argue the child angle, but just about any body will admit there is plenty of labor involved.

Actually, the worst thing about gym is dressing in all that mess!

HALF-PINTS HAVE FIRST
GAME SEPT. 28

The Hollowoay Half-pints are ready for action this year. There first game is with Southern Fruits Bluebirds at 9:30 AM September 28, back of the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando.

The starting eleven are as follows: John Prevatt will be at center; Bob Ross and Bob Howell will take the guards, the two tackles are Keven McPherson and Kenny Birch, who both played last year for Holloway. The two ends are Bill Larue and Don Wilkinson, who are expected to do a fine job.

In the backfield Bino Colado and Bill Collier will alternate in the quarterback spot. Richard Winslow has taken over the fullback position. Danny Calapa, who played first string halfback last year, is starting at right half, and Jim Rich will start at left half.

Richard Williams, a seventh grade science teacher, is coaching the boys on their split T formation. All these boys are future members of the Glenridge football team.

IN THE GIRLS' GYM

The instant you open the door you know you are among creatures of the female sex. You can hear all that feminine gossip and small talk bubbling out on all sides.

"Oh, I love that shade of lipstick!"
"It's your turn for a party."
"She's going with WHO?"
"She really ought to cut it."

The air, hot and humid, is loaded with perfume, the smell of old sneakers, and sometimes a snack some courageous soul smuggled in from the lunchroom . . . a peculiar medley of odors.

There's color, too. Always the red and green of our gym uniforms. Added to these a great confusion of tints and shades as skirts, blouses, and crinolines are striped and dropped in a messy pile.

But mostly you're aware of the ever-increasing noise as the chatter mounts to a shrill scream, penetrating occasionally by a snatch of the latest hit tune, and, finally, ended by the teacher's whistle.

This is the girls gym. Full or empty it is the symbol of fun, high spirits and health-building activity.
