THE KILT
OCTOBER 15, 1957
When asked how he was feeling after the Lakeview triumph, Bob Mosher gave one of those famous grins and said, "Better". With a little prodding, we got him talking about the team's performance.
He felt that the team as a whole played much better than last week. Coach doesn't like to single out players for special commendation because he knows the value of teamwork. But we finally made him pat Matthews, Doolittle, Buttery and Ferguson, for the special part they played. "Don't forget," he reminded us, "it takes a team working together to win games!"
It's the general feeling of the whole coaching staff, that if we can beat Cherokee on October 17 we have a good chance to win the championship.
There were many players of last year's team at the game last Thursday. Mike Mosher, Danny Carr, Ronnie Caloss, and Mike Winniger were there pepping up our team. Mike Mosher thinks our Lions look better than last year's team. We'd like to believe that.
Everyone is beginning to call Rusty Doolittle "Hands" because of the beautiful way he handles the ball. Bill Buttery could be called "Feet". That boy can really step down the field.

GIRLS   TEAMS   BATTLE
The softball championships are in full swing. During the sixth period the scores are CLODHOPPERS-9, MARWICK'S MOB-3, BIG BOYS -4, WILLIES-11, GO GETTERS-10, TEAGUE TERRORS-0.
During the first period the REVERONS have won 3 games. In the second hour the COMETS have won all their games.
THE LAKEVIEW GAME
                                IN REVIEW
Glenridge's passing was certainly hot in the Lakeview games. Charlie Matthews hit Rusty Doolittle three times during the game - one of which counted for a T.D.
Bill Buttery got loose on an 80 yard run and romped for the first T.D. of the games.
The third and final T.D. was accounted for by Ray Myers on a 6 yard push. Ray converted for the extra point, too.
Two T.D.'s were called back; one because of an offsides penalty, and a fake which the referee did not see.
Charlie Matthews got out five passes; Doolittle caught three. There were 42 yards in passing, 191 yards in rushing. Altogether Glenridge acquired 231 yards. Buttery ran for 88 yards.
The high men of the first two games are Buttery - 12 points; Mullins - 23 tackles; 2 recovered fumbles, 2 block kicks. Ferguson has 18 tackles.
This game we only had 10 yards of penalties. A big difference between this game and 80 yards during Memorial's game.

BOYS   START   ON   BASKET-
BALL   &   VOLLEY-BALL
The boys in Phys. Ed. are having a rough time trying to brush up their rusty techniques in both basketball and volleyball. Funny how far away that basketball hoop seems when you haven't been playing for seven or eight months. There doesn't seem to be much volleying going on in the game named for it. The team that gets the ball over the net first has a good chance of winning, because the boys aren't getting it back the way they should.
