VARSITY FOOTBALL RECORDS

   Coach Mosher has compiled these records of the 1956 and 1957 football season.

   The 1956 team won the most games. They won six and lost one to Howard. The '57 team scored the most points - 84.

   Mike Mosher scored the most individual points - 45. Gene Mooney has kicked the most extra points - 5.

   The 1957 has the most rushing yardage with 1185. They also were tops in passing yardage with 153. The most rushing yards made in a single game were made by teh '56 team against Apopka. They rushed 266 yards. The most passing yards were also made against Apopka by the '56 team. They passed a total of 79 yards.

   In the '56 season the highest number of points scored in one game was against Cherokee. In this game we scored 25 points.

   Ten passes were completed this season. This was more than the '56 team completed. Mike Mosher completed most passes individually during the '56 season - he completed nine out of twenty four. Rusty Doolittle has caught the most passes - 8.

   The best individual yardage was made by Mike Stearman in '56. He made 558 yds. Bill Buttery has the best average per carry. He has an average of 15 yards for every nineteen carries.

Ray Myers made the longest run from the line of scrimmage. He ran 92 yards. Mike Mosher of the '56 team, has the best punt return average ... 21.6 yards for 16 carries. Bill Buttery has the best kickoff return average ... 28 yards for five carries.

Frank Ferguson has the best punting average - 38.6 yards for 15 kicks. Mike Mosher has intercepted the most passes, with five interceptions. He also has the record for fumble recoveries - seven.

Julius Mullins has made the most tackles and blocked the most punts. He has made 63 tackels and blocked 5 punts.

   Julius Mullins took the lead with 63 tackles; Frank Ferguson made 44, and Gene Mooney made 43; Paul Bene made 36; Steve Toothaker made 32; Rusty Doolittle made 30 tackles, Max Morris 28; Carl Kettles 26; Vernon Duncan 16 and Johnny Cash in tenth spot with 15 tackles.

   A total of 458 tackles were made with an average of 65 tackles per game.

   In touchdown Ray Myers and Bill Buttery tied with three each. Rusty Doolittle, Steve Toothaker and Chuck Butler have two. Max Morris has one touch down. Gene Mooney made 5 extra points and Ray Myers made one.

   In individual yardage Bill Buttery was the leading ground gainer with 284 yards. Toothaker was second with 252, and Doolittle was 201 yards. Ray Myers made 197 yards, and Chuck Butler covered 92 yards in rushing.

   In kickoff runbacks Buttery has five for 116 yards. Greg Holland has five for 72 yards, Charles Matthews has four for 65 yards, Ray Myers has one for 25 yards; Max Morris has two for 22 yards; Chuck Butler has one for four yards and Rusty Doolittle finished with one for two yards.

   Amidst shouts of "Stay in your position", "Dribble the ball", and "pass" the girls charge toward the goal.

   Tournament games will be held during the six weeks. We hope the 9th grade girls will get their teams in shipe to challenge the sophomores of Winter Park High.
