Students Win
Fair Ribbons

   Glenridge is proud to have several students win ribbons in the Central Florida Fair exhibits.
   Nancy Dechert, 7-4, won a blue ribbon for her essay, "The Life of Archimedes".
   Robert Heisler won a blue ribbon for his model of a home. Loni Abbotts also won a blue for her house plans. A model of early frontier life won Randy Larsen a blue. Noralee Reichert's booklet on the Senate of the United States won her an award.
   Joanne Horvath won a blue for her report on Florida and Claudia Flambeau's products map won her a blue ribbon.
   Red Ribbon awards were Linda Merhill's booklet; Marilyn Murdock's Map of Early Routes; Richard Kraseman's Model of a Satellite; Sharon Duryea's Roads to the White House; and Linda Anglin's plans for a house.
Plaid Club Elects Next Issue Staff
   The second issue of the Plaid is coming out in May. Deadline for this issue will be March 15.
   The staff for this issue will be as follows: Editor, Ann Spaulding; Co-Editor, Bob Ross; Business Manager, Jim Stokes; Assistant Manager, Cathie Skinner.
   Other members of the Plaid Club are Mary Hitchcock, Judy LeFevre, Cheryl Pritchard, Linda Snyder, Nancy Collins, Marcia Fosgate, Bonnie Yates, Patsy Temple, Pat Griffith, Barbara Rogers, Marcia Davis, Betty Kent, Bob Mikesell, Chris Yarbrough, Dave Llewellyn, Mike Kelly, Bruce Cogleton, Judy Lee, Buddy Kirk, Pat Wind, Stu Smith, Marty Wellinger.
   Glenridge's annual birthday party will be celebrated on March 12, the anniversary of the day the school moved from the barracks on Signal Hill to the present building.
   All the students are invited to attend the party. One of the highlights of the event will be the volleyball game between female members of the faculty and the girl members of "G" Club. This athletic catastrophe has in the past been notable more fore pranks than muscular prowess. However, Mrs. Roess, who is in charge of coaching the faculty team, has scheduled several practice sessions, so there may be a few surprises in store for the "G" Women.
PTA Election Set
For March 10
   Election of Officers will be the business of the next PTA meeting, March 10. The Glenridge Band will entertain the meeting.
 
LIONS Win Orange County Trophy
   After a first half slump, the Lions managed to take the title from St. James, 24-23. The game was played to a packed Howard Gym February 22.
   The Lions were behind all the way, until the mid-way point in the final half. With 24 seconds left, Glenridge was ahead 24-21, but the Panthers scored to make the final total 24-23.
   Glenridge reached the finals by defeating Lee, 35-20; and Memorial, 30-11.
   Dewey Ramsby and
Rusty Doolittle scored 8 and 7 points to take the honors for the final game.
    In the Junior Varsity preliminary Glenridge defeated Howard 30-22 to cop the eighth grade championship. The Lion Jayvees were ahead throughout the game.
Gary Houmes and Bill Dick scored 10 and 8 points.
   After the final game, the County Championship trophies were presented to the teams. These trophies will become permanent posessions of Glenridge.

Bomb Scare in Seven Schools Causes Evacuation

    Seven Orange County Schools were evacuated on February 26, after the administrations had been called by phone and told a bomb was secreted on the grounds of the school.
    Students from Memorial, Cherokee, Edgewater, Boone, Lee, Blankner, and Kaley were sent out into a teaming rain as a precautionary measure. These students have made up the lost hours in a Saturday morning session, March 1.
