FIRST IMPRESSIONS

When I woke up the morning of August 29 I didn't know whether to look forward to the day or not. Finally I decided it would be fun to go to a new school and meet new friends. And I was quite right.

Before the morning was over my class had learned the Alma Mater and a Fight Song, and I knew I was going to enjoy the year ahead at Glenridge Junior High.

Well, I finally made it, Glenridge at last
I really hope it won't be much of a task
But each day I learn a little bit more
At least now I walk through the right door.

Glenridge is a very nice school. The wonderful teachers and the older students are very nice to the seventh graders.

This is what I think you need to be a true Glenridger: Not to mind being pushed and shoved a little bit. To have spirit, work hard and be friendly to everyone.

Linda Schauer-Audubon

I didn't think I was going to like Glenridge. I'd heard other students say it was very hard and the teachers were tough. I had a big surprise that first day. My homeroom teacher was nice and used to be in the Air Force, which is where I hope to go someday. He has a special way of teaching math that actually makes it fun.

When I got to Glenridge I had butterflies. I thought it wouldn't be fun. It was though, and I just love it. If I had my way I'd stay in seventh grade forever.

Annita Simonds-Lakemont

I like Glenridge because the teachers and students are very friendly and kind. But the thing I like best is the lunch. Glenridge must have some good cooks.

It feels funny to be the youngest ones in the school because everyone towers over you and calls you shorty.

Mike Duckworth-Audubon

Glenridge is a very nice school
My classmates go by the Golden Rule.
Do not push and do not run
Nobody's behind you with a gun.

Glenridge, Glenridge has lots of fight
At work or sports they play it right.
So, come on students, get on the ball
And make your class the best of all.

Carol Eckardt-Fern Creek

To me seventh grade feels like you have grown up some. That you've left babyhood behind and gone into boyhood or girlhood. Yet all you've really done is go ahead one more grade.

John Applebee-Sease School

Glenridge, Glenridge has the spirit!
All we want is to be near it.
We do have crowds and quite a racket
Especially at lunch do we not lack it.

We do have homework and some rules.
Still Glenridge is the best of schools.
I want to say - It's way above par
And I prefer Glenridge by real far!

Toni Berstein-Fern Creek

I got through my first two classes just beautifully. But after that I really was mixed up. First I went to the wrong room and had to be sent to the auditorium. Then our whole class dashed to the wrong lunch period and missed third period class completely.

Ann Shouse-Lakemont

I like being in seventh grade because I have a chance to move around and don't have to stay in the same room all day. It gives me a nice feeling to be able to say that I'm in Junior High. And to own my own lock and have a locker. Still, sometimes I miss not having my old girlfriends in my room.
