GLENRIDGE JR. HIGH SCHOOL
Sept. 17, 1957
HY-Y NEWS
The Hi-Y officers for the school year 1957-58 are RONNIE BUCKMASTER, President; PUD MUDD, Vice President; RICHARD WINSLOW, Secretary; RICHARD GIANNINI, Treasurer; STEVE COOKE, Sgt. at Arms; CHIP SCHRAM, Chaplin.
The Hi-Y will try to push its membership high enough at each grade level to form three sections, with each grade working as a group on goals that particular grade wishes to accomplish.
The social events of the Hi-Y this year will be at least one weekend camping trip and one school dance. The time and place of these events will be announced later in the school year.
This year Hi-Y is pleased to have Mr. Baker and Mr. Hammond to help Mr. Johnson as sponsors.
All seventh, eighth and ninth grade boys who wish to join Hi-Y are urged to attend the first meeting to be held during the second Activity period of this month. Installation of officers will occur at a night meeting later in the month.
Requirements for membership are maintaining a C or better average; attending all meetings, and giving of free time to serve the school.
THE INVASION OF THE MARTIANS
They've finally arrived at their destination. We at Glenridge have been waiting for over a year and they are now swarming in from many different parts of the world.
No, they're not queer little green men just recently arrived from Mars in a flying saucer. These are the girls and boys whose parents work at the Martin Plant in Orlando.
Of course these boys and girls were born on our EARTH (we think) and have the same features as we do. They have hands, five fingers, a nose, a smoocher, two eyes, and, of course, two legs to walk with.
We're very proud and happy to have them all aboard. We hope that they will feel at home at Glenridge.
