The Student Council will meet every other Activity Period.

Any students who have ideas of a service nature which might be included in the Council plans are urged to submit them to their homeroom representative.

The first of a series of orienting assemblies was held during the first Activity Period on Sept. 11 with all of the seventh graders and transfer students in attendance.
After the presentation of the colors and devotionals, FRANK FERGUSON, PRINCIPAL ADRIAN STOCKARD, MARY SHIVER welcomed the students to Glenridge.
DEAN EVERETT BLAND added his greetings and urged all students to feel free to bring their personal problems to the two Deans' offices.
The following students described the various organizations and activities available at Glenridge: JEAN BRITT spoke for Tri-Hi-Y; RONNIE BUCKMASTER for Hi-Y and Safety Patrol; STEVE VAN ORE for the Band Club.
The program concluded with Mrs. Weidley leading the Alma Mater.
RONNIE BUCKMASTER has been appointed as Captain of the Safety Patrol. His Lieutenants will be BOBBIE LITTLE and CHIP SCHRAM.
Other members of the Patrol will be elected in the next week.
Patrol members have new raincoats to wear on duty during our frequent storms.

Starting Monday, Sept. 16, and lasting for three days, all ninth grade students at Glenridge will take part in a county-wide testing program.

The purpose of these tests is to discover the individual student's weaknesses and strengths in every phase of his education. Each student is urged to do the best so that the results will be useful to him as a measure of his achievement.

When the scores are returned students will be called into the Dean's Offices individually, told their scores, and advised about their future scholastic endeavor.

These scores in no way affect a change in grades or class placement. Their purpose is to point out a student's trouble spots before he takes a similar test in the twelfth grade. The twelfth grade tests will determine whether a student will be admitted to college, or be eligible for a college scholarship.

At one time laziness was a quality to be avoided, but now ... even the cars are shiftless.

Heard during a math exam.

"How far are you from the correct answer?"

"Two seats."
