STUDENT
COUNCIL
Under
the sponsorship of Glenridge's two deans, Mrs. Ruth Sory and Mr.
Everett Bland, the Student Council has had a very active and successful
year.
The first project of the year was
a guide and welcoming program, in which members assisted new students
to find their way, and taught homerooms the songs and cheers of
the school. There followed five orientation programs for seventh
grade students and transfer students. This was organized to acquaint
new students with Glenridge traditions, organizations, activities,
and honors.
The Student Council Handbook, compiled
and published by the Council was made available as a permanent record
of any information students would require for a happy and successful
life at Glenridge.
At Christmas the Council sponsored
a "Christmas for Others" program and arranged for the
various homerooms and organizations to make gift boxes for needy
families.
A Clean Up Day was held by members
and a beautification project completed the planting of shrubs, grass
and trees. The Council also raised the money for the fence in front
of the school sign which Mr. Row and his classes constructed.
Two dances were given, and members
of the Council presented a panel discussion on the Honor Code, which
was subsequently adopted by the student body.
Student Council officers for the year
were: President-Frank Ferguson; Vice President-Chan Muller; Secretary-Linda
Schmidt; Treasurer-Sandra Flowers; Secretary General-Max Morris;
