Have
you ever wondered what it would be like to be a twin? To have
someone look just like you? Well, being a most curious person,
I de-cided to find out! |

Winter
Park High School has four sets of twins. I found it very interesting
finding out from them just what their reactions were to being
a twin. Here's what I learned. |

SITTING:

I
first interviewed the Cummings twins, who are sophomores. Sharon
and Sheila were born on March 17, 1942. Sharon is fifteen minutes
older. I found out that they don't make the same grades. Wondering
how to tell them apart, they told me that Sheila has longer hair,
weighs more, and is a little taller. But seeing them together,
I still couldn't tell them apart! They said that they feel closer
than most brothers and sisters, as they enjoy about the same things.
The only jokes they ever pull on anyone is exchanging names and
fooling people on the phone. Their futures are different, as Sharon
hopes to be a secretary, and Sheila is planning to be a teacher.
Next came the Harmeling twins. Those
boys really amazed me at their reactions of being twins. Dan and
Jim were born November 6, 1941. Dan being the older by seven minutes.
I was also told that Jim makes the best grades. They both enjoy
sports and make an attempt at a little bit of everything. As for
the opposite sex, they both play the field! I asked them how people
told them apart--Jim said, "Dan is bigger and louder!"
They said they both try to avoid dressing alike. When I asked
them if they felt closer than most brothers and sisters, they
said only as far as common interests go. I got a kick when I found
out they switched bank instruments in Mr. Williams' band at Glenridge.
It must have been a riot!! It was very interesting to me to find
out they had, of all things, twin counsins! As for their future,
they plan to attend different colleges.
Bonnie and Bunnie Pechin were next
on the list. They were born April 2, 1943. Bonnie is the oldest
by six minutes. Bunnie takes the lead in grades. They both enjoy
doing the same things and are almost always together. Bunnie's
hair is longer at the present time, so this is one way of telling
them apart. |
