MRS. BEASLEY LECTURES

   Mrs. Beasley, one of Glenridge's Homemaking teachers, has a busy semester cut out for herself. Not only will she be teaching a full schedule here at school, but she is giving a two hour lecture each week at Orange Memorial Hospital.

   The course teaches nutrition to student nurses. In addition to the lectures, the students will be required to finish 10 hours in the laboratory.

   Mrs. Beasley is the membership chairman of the Homemaking organization this year.

JEAN  BRITT  HURT

   While playing softball in Girls' Phys. Ed., Jean Britt was hit in the nose. After being rushed to the clinic and then to Orange Memorial, it was discovered that her nose had been broken in two places, and surgery was required.

LANGUAGE CLUBS ARE ORGANIZED

   Spanish and Latin clubs have been organized at Glenridge and will meet on the third Wednesday of each month. They are open to students taking Spanish or Latin.

   The sponsor of the Spanish Club is Miss Adams. The purpose of this club is to acquaint members with the customs and language of the

   This Friday, October 11, there will be a special assembly during 5th and 6th periods. The Great Terrini and Phyllis will present many humorous and mystifying tricks.

   Torrini and Phyllis are known as the Madcap Wizards of Hocus-Pocus, and are certain to provide an interesting show.

   Admission will be one dime.

SNAKE  BITES  BOYS

   While on a Scout camping trip, Chip Schram met a tenderfoot who said he'd been bitten while catching a King snake. Upon investigation, Chip discovered that the snake was actually a Coral.

   With true Scout preparedness, Chip administered the proper first aid techniques to the younger Scout and himself. The two Scouts recovered.

Spanish speaking people. The programs will be conducted in Spanish, and members will learn Spanish songs, games and dances.

   Mrs. Stinson will sponsor the Latin Club. This organization will study Latin culture, and the many contributions the Roman World has given our civilization. A dinner for members is planned.

1ST  GAME

   Glenridge came from behind in our first game to tie Memorial 6-6. Memorial scored in the second quarter, but the TD was nullified because of an offside penalty.

   Again early in the 4th quarter Memorial scored on a pass play to take the lead 6-0. Three minutes later Bill Buttery broke loose and raced 65 yards to tie the score. Glenridge didn't make the extra point.

   Frank Ferguson, Eugene Mooney, Chuck Butler, Charles Matthews, Johnny Cash, Steve Toothaker and Julius Mullins were the outstanding players.

   The Lions travel to Winter Garden Thursday, October 10 to play Lakeview in the second game of the season.

   Lakeview's record is one win, one loss. They won their first game with Apopka 31-0.
