MR. SORENSEN LANDSCAPES

Mr. Jack Sorensen, of Sorensen and Fletcher, began to landscape the school October 26. He brought his own crews of laborers, and several truckloads of plants, peat and topsoil.
Over the weekend, the school took on a new appearance. Large azalea plants and a variety of shrubs and trees we planted in a manner to break the long, horizontal lines of the school buildings.
Mr. Sorensen volunteered to do this work, and has given of his time, plants, and employees. Glenridge certainly owes Mrs. Sorensen a vote of thanks for his generous contribution.

Mr. MacKenzie will demon-strate the wonders of liquid air. Fun, fact, and fancy will be combined to make the assembly, not only entertaining but educational.

STUDENT COUNCIL WEEDS LAWN

During Activity period on October 30 the Student Council and many devoted students turned out to weed the grass in front of the school.
While some students gave their attention to the weeds, other watered the newly planted shrubs.

Howard lengthened her winning streak to 31 games October 31, as she overpowered the mighty Lion defense. Glenridge received the kick-off but couldn't get started. On the fourth down the Lions punted the ball to Howard.
As the Howard offense started, the smaller but determined Lion defense gave way. On the Glenridge 12 yard line, Howard tailback, Micky Merola, chugged through the line to score. Dickson plowed up the middle for the extra point.
In the second quarter the Lion defense held Howard. But several minutes after the third quarter began Howard again scored on a pass play, and made the extra point.
In the fourth quarter the Lions again held the heavier and stronger team.
Coach Mosher told the team in the lock room, "You haven't anything to be ashamed of. You played a good game."

STUDENTS SEE FIRE

Glenridge students were treated to an unexpected bit of excitement on the way to school Oct. 29. Bus 101 watched a burning tar wagon being unhitched on Palmer Ave. The blaze was still burning furiously when the bus left the scene.
