The Glenridge Lions knocked off the unbeaten St. James team by a score of 33-21 in an Orange County Junior High Conference basketball game January 21.
The Lions were helped greatly by a 14 point spurt in the second quarter, which put them out ahead. Dewey Ramsby was high may with 10 points.
The Jayvees topped their St. James team by 42-11. Fast breaks featured largely in the team's success. Gary Houmes was top point man with 10. Bob Mobley was second with 9 points. Bill Dick was elected captain for the game.

Glenridge Nips Memorial

Frank Ferguson's jump shot with a few seconds left to play gave Glenridge a "squeak" victory over Memorial - 41-39 in a thrill-packed basketball game in the Howard gym January 28.
A nip and tuck affair all the way, the game went into two three minute overtimes before the winner was decided with Ferguson's jump shot.
First string men, Rusty Doolittle and Dewey Ramsby were out on the sick list, which put the rest of the Lions on their mettle. Richard Giannini was high point man for the game, scoring 14 points.
The Junior Varsity game resulted in another win for our undefeated Jayvees - 40-20. Bill Dick and Gary Houmes were high scorers - each chalking up 9 points. Bill Collier was captain for the game.

Know Your Basketball Rules

Many Glenridge students don't understand basketball rules, and so don't get the full amount of pleasure out of the game.
Some rules you should know are:

1. No double dribbling: bouncing ball with both hands.
2. No ups and down - jumping in the air without getting rid of ball or dribbling it.
3. No walking without dribbling the ball.
4. No charging - running into someone who is standing still.
5. Main foul is committed by running into man with the ball. It is legal to touch him on the hand except when he is shooting the ball.
6. No profane language.
7. No show of anger.
8. Numbers on jerseys must not contain numerals 6, 7, 8, or 9. This is so referee can signal with hands who made foul.
