THE KILT
March 18, 1958
Glenridge's Code of Conduct, which was voted in by the student body March 11, has been the topic of much conversation among the students. The Kilt has interviewed members of the Glenridge family throughout the school in an effort to discover what individuals feel about this code.
FRAN USERY: "I think it is a terrific idea. A student should know exactly what is expected of him, and what the punishments are if he disobeys. Don't make the code so tough everyone is afraid to breathe."
MARTHABEL HUSMANN: "I feel that the punishment should be humiliating so that the one who breaks the rules won't do it again."
ED NEWTON: "This should stop the cheating that is being done on tests. Now people will get only the grades they are capable of making."
JUDY WILLIAMS: "Glenridge is a good school but there is always room for improvement. Students should learn to discipline themselves as possible."
LAIRD GANN: "I'm for it because I think it is time students took some responsibility for the discipline."
LEE MAGEE: "I feel the Conduct Code is a turning point in Glenridge history. It is time for we ninth graders to set the kind of example we want the other classes to follow. The Honor System should be included in this code."
BECKY THORNTON: "I believe we should do something about behavior in the halls between classes. I sure pity the little kids in that crush."
LINDA ANGLIN: "The condition the lunch room is left in is a disgrace. Everyone should pick up his own trash and pit it in a trash can."
PAT CLARKE: "If our seventh graders could be calmed down Glenridge would be a pleasanter place. They dash through the halls not caring who they knock down."
JOYCE GILLINGHAM: "The rooms should be opened early in the morning to relieve hall congestion."
LINDA WENTWORTH: "perhaps a white line painted down the middle of the hall would remind people to walk on the right."
CALVIN SEADEEK: "No butting in lunch lines. This is one of the most inconsiderate things our students do."
RICHARD KRASEMAN: "I think the patrol boys should practice what they preach."
DIANNE BIEGER: "If someone throws paper around they should be made to clean up a large area around school.
GERI VOICE: "Eighth and ninth graders should be more polite to the seventh graders."
ALAN VAN CORT: "Students shouldn't take the knobs off the drinking fountains."
MONICA GOUBAND: "Classes should wait for the teachers to dismiss them."
DEANNE BEIGER: "Anyone who writes on or defacces a desk should be made to refinish the desk."
EMILY BRACKETT: "Students should show more respect to faculty members."
GLENN MASON: "There should be more discipline on the loading platform and in the buses."
CLARE MARTIN: "I feel that the ninth grade should be given more privileges."
MARILYN LOGUE: "Students should observe rules about going to their lockers. This would help solve Main Hall congestion.
ANN SPAUDING: "I think more respect should be shown toward school building and school property."
