Lions Overpower
Lakeview 33-17

     The Glenridge Lions beat Lakeview 33-17, in their last regular season basketball game played at Winter Garden, February 17.
     Glenridge was in the lead all the way, but Lakeview, using a slow but sharp offense, was usually within striking distance. All Glenridge team members saw action in the game. Dewey Ramsby and Frank Ferguson each scored 7 points.
     The Lions regular season record is 9 wins and 2 loses.

Jayvees Set Record

     The Junior Varsity set a new record in the Lakeview game by smothering their Lakeview opponent 72-11. They topped the last score record, 51, by 21 points.
     Gary Houmes and Bill Collier scored 19 and 17 points for high point honors.
     The Junior Varsity regular season record is 11 wins, no losses, which leaves them in the first place of the eighth grade conference.

Swimming Teams Train

     In spite of the delay caused by cold weather, the Glenridge swimming team is shaping up. The first scheduled meet will be with Winter Park High on March 21 at the Langford Pool.

 

INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL
GAMES START MARCH 3

     Intramural Basketball games began Monday afternoon with several seventh grade games. Eighth grade teams will begin their contests March 5. Ninth grade teams go into combat March 7.
     These games are scheduled to be played on the athletic field after school.

Dad's Club to Build Track

     Glenridge's active Dads' Club has undertaken the business of providing the school with a much-needed track. In a meeting February 25 the Dads arranged to have the surveying started immediately. The track will be packed clay instead of cinders. Construction should start immediately.

Track Team Practicing

     Track training began February 27 under the supervision of Coach Bernard Dykes. The following events are being trained for; high jump, broad jump, shot put, discus, low hurdle, pole vault, 100 yard dash, 220 yard dash; 440 yard run and relay and 880 run and relay.
     The country track meet is March 27. Top members of the Glenridge track team will participate.
