That
Star
That
star . . .
So large, so bright
It lights the night
That
star . . .
Leading the way
Wanting to stay
Over Bethlehem
That
star . . .
A stranger
Finds its way
To the manger
That
star . . .
Shining on Christ the King
Hears the Heavenly
angels sing
Holiday
Memories
By Sue Trapnell
As
the chill of winter drifts slowly down to cling upon last summer's streets,
and there is an unusual twinkle in the eyes of the people whom we greet,
we begin to feel that familiar excitement which always comes with Christmas
each year.
The smell of sugar cookies and pound
cake, the Christmas formal and all the parties with that special date,
the midnight service at the church on Christmas Eve and the tree on
Christmas day with many presents to give and receive.
These are the memories I hold dear,
of Christmas from another year.
Favorite people will soon be home
from college and as we gather with old friends we know, there is so
much to enjoy that we don't mind too much if Florida doesn't have snow.
But Christmas must end as every
good thing, and back to school we trudge again, not soon to forget the
many happy hours spent and new friends we have met.
Christmas
Hints
What
is in a Christmas package? The easy way to find out is to take your
clue from the wrappings.
You
don't have to be a genius. But you do have to use ingenuity. Glue on
felt faces, beads, or fringe. Try plaid or checks for "him".
Silhouettes on boxes are gentle hints.
Greet
your Christmas guests with this festive Eggnog.
Yule
Eggnog
1/3
cup sugar
2 egg yolks
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups milk
2 egg whites
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Brandy or rum flavoring to taste
1/2 cup heavy cream, whipped
Nutmeg
Beat 1/3 cup sugar into egg yolks.
Add salt and stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly,
till mixture coats spoon. Cool. Beat egg whites till foamy. Gradually
add 3 tablespoons sugar, beating to soft peaks; add to custard, and
mix thoroughly. Add flavorings. Chill 3 or 4 hours. Pour into punch
bowl. Dot with islands of whipped cream and sprinkle with nutmet. Makes
6 to 8 servings.
Holiday
Idea
For
the younger brothers and sisters in your family, here is a holiday treat!
After baking a batch of cookies, make a simple icing to spread on half
of the batch. Then place plastic straws or wooden sticks on each iced
cookie. Finaly place an uniced cookie lightly on each of the iced cookies
with the sticks, to make lollipow cookies!

CHACER
By Susan Chace
Are
we losing the real meaning of Christmas? Is the world today succumbing
to the materialistic Christmas and completely disregarding its original
purpose? In celebrating Christmas, we are commemorating the birth of
Christ. We should give gifts, not thinking about what we will get in
return, but thinking of the joy that this person will experience in
receiving them. By giving presents, we should recall the great gift
our Father in Heaven gave mankind in the form of his only Son.
In this great atomic and industrial
age in which we live, Christmas lights and decorations are put up in
the towns before Thanksgiving. Christmas spirit is caught up in the
great wave of advertising sent crashing over the heads of busy citizens,
stamped into the ground by the hustle and bustle of the Christmas shoppers,
and swept away by the rush of parties and social gatherings around Dec.
25. Churches try to gather the pieces with some success, but the final
test comes on Christmas Eve day in the poorly attended church services.
It's up to us to keep alive the
true spirit of Christmas. Lets see if we can forget ourselves for once
and think of others. Lets do our best to see that every one around us
has a wonderful Christmas and I'm sure we'll be surprised to see what
a really joyful season we'll have ourselves!
JUST A THOUGHT---
"Life's greatest tragedy is
to lose God and not to miss him".

CORNER
Susan
Carter -
Chan Muller
Featuring
Susan Carter and Chan Muller - This popular SENIOR couple began going
together on Nov. 21, 1959, three weeks after their first real date which
was the '59 Homecoming.
Susan likes the dates when she and
Chan go out to dinner and then downtown for a movie; however, she also
enjoys quiet evenings at home. Chan likes a good show or an evening at
the Youth Center.
Chan's likes include ice cream, football,
and tennis. Susan goes in for swimming, dancing and steak. She also likes
Chan's constant good-nature and his consideration for her and others.
Chan likes to see Susan dressed in
any appropriate clothes. He likes her in a bathing suit, and according
to Susan, he is very complimentary.
Susan thinks that Chan looks best
when dressed a suit rather than casual clothes.
Susan who is 5'5" and has green
eyes, and blonde hair, is Treasurer of the Senior Class, and President
of the Campus Crusaders, while Chan, a tall 6', is Secretary of Welfare
on the Student Council, and is Treasurer of the Wheel Club.
This active couple plans on college
after graduation but neither one of them has decided exactly which school
they will attend.

Squillante -
Ned Whitener
This
Sophomore couple first met while they were at Glenridge in 1958. Pam DeVane's
party was the scene for their first date on March 19, 1960 and they started
going together at that time.
That
special song for them is "The Theme From A Summer Place". They
don't have a favorite date because Net doesn't have his license yet but
they're living for January 13 which will be the "MAGICAL DAY".
How's
this for a switch? Ned likes to see Janet in a formal (like the gorgeous
one she wore in the Homecoming Court) and Janet favors Net in a bathing
suit?
What
makes Janet's heart throb for Ned? The way he holds her hand! But Mr.
Ned is more serious and says sincerely, "I like everything about
her!"
things
aren't all a bed of roses for them though. They have their pet peeves
too. Janet steams when Ned acts "wise and sarcastic." Ned can't
stand being told what to do, so Miss Janet watches her step in this direction.
Net
(nickname Zarmouth) is the president of the Sophomore class and was president
of the same class when they were Freshmen. Janet (nickname Zeddy), of
course, was a lovely representative on the Homecoming court.
Their
only plan for the future is to get to be Seniors so they can use those
New Senior Privileges! Good luck, Ned and Janet, and Merry Christmas.
Can
You Imagine?
