What a stingy bunch of classmates! There's our Student
Council, our very leadershipl asking for support and we can't even take
the time or personal interest (or scratch) to help them out. School spirit
-- Ha! Even Edgewater (pardon the expression) has more school spirit than
that. Our Student Council goes through the sweat of sponsoring a bus to
the Melbourne game, in hopes of picking up a few lonesome George's and
hardly anybody takes advantage of this sterling way to spend a little
money. If there had been one more person on that bus, the driver would
have had someone to talk to. What's the matter, are you all alergic to
Greyhounds. (Dr. Bender's joke.)
Fads
and Fashions

This
week's fashions highlights, higher hemlines, reaching almost to the
knees. These skirts are particularly noticeable at the football games.
They really look cute in all the fall colors.
Madras still seems to be the rage. Seen sporting
madras blouses are Carol Cubbedge and Suzy Cushing. Suzy is trying
to out-do us all with her madras dress and slim jims.
Batik seems to be popular. Judy Wingate looks darling
in her beatnik sheath. There are also some very fashionable prints
in blouses and shorts.
The boys are trying awfully hard to keep up with
the girl's clothes-wise and are doing a pretty good job of it too
... Dave Smith and Richard Giannini really look tops in their sharp
looking sport shirts.
It seems that the ever popular trench coats are
coming back in style this fall. Last year they were in mostly solid
colors, but this year they are appearing in prints and plaids.
Hey! Have ya'll noticed the new Scarab pin Jean
Welch is wearing? It was given to her as a birthday gift from Phil
hoffman. The solid color Scarab bracelets seem to be becoming popular
too.
Well, that's about it for this week, we'll see you
next week and in the meantime keep up the good work fashion-wise. |

The
Student Council went into the red just so you sophomores could all
have handbooks. (Rather than have you pester us about where your next
class is, or how to get to the little boys' or girls' room.) You are
doing them a grave injustice by not supporting the activities of the
Student Council. |
So how about
helping them out? Give 'em your support. Take pride and interest
in the activities of your Student Council, and let them know you're
backing them up, all the way.

SUSI'S
SCOOPS

"Hi--and
away we go with this week's news and gossip!
Saturday, September 17, found lots of Winter Parkers
gathered at Nancy Temple's home for a cool party. The boys there were:
Allan Burris, Steve Van Ore, David Herold, David Eckardt, Larry Elam,
Colin Crews, John Bordley and Chan Muller. Girls were there, too:
-- among them: Kathy Browne, Ann Spaulding, Julie Baldwin, Linda Merhill,
Donna Newberry, Perky McKim, Susan Carter and Donna Shaw.
Football practice seems to be getting the best of
several of our players. Randy Hall is running around "in stitches"
and John Prevatt is on crutches again.
When Frank Ferguson arrived at the airport, Sept.
15, he was greeted by many of his friends. JoAnn Ross, and brother,
Bob, made clever signs which said "Welcome Bo!" and "Go
Home Yank". Col. and Mrs. Ferguson treated all of the welcomers
with a coke and everyone was in gay spirits when Frank, in a strictly
"ivy" outfit, stepped off the plane. |
Sept.
17 found twelve junior girls at a luncheon at Morrison's Imperial
Hourse. This crew of gals was helping Alex Bower celebrate her "Sweet
16 Birthday". Those attending and enjoying the food were: Ann
Jenkins, Marcia Fosgate, Liz Bennett, Ginny Ussery, Sally Ross, Sandy
Bowman, Linda Tindall, Julie Haynie, Janie Mitchell, Judy Kirkpatrick,
Connie McDowell, and Marty Wellinger.
Rosemarie Vardell is lookin' kind of lonesome since
Tommy Seals, an Edgewater graduate, left for Georgia Tech. Sizie Miller
feels the same way now that Bob Wiser has left for Duke, and Pamme
Anderson is down in the dumps since the Navy has claimed Denny Boo.
Today's Double Dip
During an air-raid the girl said, "Fred, you
really shouldn't have kissed me like that, with all those people around
us, even if it was in the dark."
"I didn't kiss you," said the boy, looking
angrily around in the crowd. "I only wish I knew who it was --
I'd teach him!!!"
"Fred," sighed the girl, "you couldn't
teach him a thing!" |
