THE KILT
October 8, 1957

It looks like a rough season ahead for the LIONS with at least three of their competitors already chalking up wins by nice, fat scores.

At press time these were the scores in the Junior High Conference:

Howard 41 - Apopka 0
Howard 13 - Cherokee 6

Cherokee 19 - St. James 0
Cherokee 7 - Memorial 0

Lakeview 31 - Apopka 0
St. James 21 - Ocoee 0
Glenridge 6 - Memorial 6

Robert E. Lee's first game was called because of Asian Flu.

If you were at the opening game on October 3, and watched our Glenridge cheerleaders going through their routines, you'll know these girls have reached a perfection we've never had before.

Not only do they look smarter than any other group of cheerleaders we've seen, but they have learned to synchronize to a T. We're glad to have these girls representing us, and leading us in cheers.

The girls in kilts are: MONA BARNHART, LINDA SCHMIDT, SANDY CASH, JUDY REDING, SANDY FLOWERS, CATHIE SKINNER, JEAN BRITT, SIGRID BERSTROM, CINDY FLOWERS and JO ANN ROSS.

Ever since August 19, these girls and their sponsor, Miss Folsom, have been practicing twice a week. All their hard work shows.

Cheers for our cheerleaders! We think they are the best!

"And what," asked the teacher, "do two ducks and a cow remind you of?"
"Quackers and milk," said the little boy.

Mrs. Roess' Physical Education classes are working up a lot of spirit in their Softball competition.

Sixth Period Class (9th grade) has six teams with plenty on the ball. TEAGUE TERRORS, Captain Judy Teague, has won two games. GO GETTERS, Captain Pat Beck, has won two. MARWICK'S MOB, Captain Heather Marwick, won one and tied one. The WILLIES, Captain Jean Williams, lost one and tied one.

First period Class (8th grade). The JUNIOR CUBS, Captain Martha Grove, and the REVERONS, Captain Carol Johnson have each one one. BAT BRUISERS, Captain Nancy Collins, and the BAGGY BATTERS, Captain Judy Wingate, have each lost one game.

Second Period Class (8th grade) has four teams. HOTRODS, Captain Pam Anderson, and TEDDY BEARS, Captain Carol Lober, have each lost one game. THUNDERBIRDS, Captain Ilene Green, and COMETS, Captain Maurine Dagget, have each won one.

Seventh grade classes have just chosen teams and started to play.

After you watch a crowd at the football game when the referee makes a close decision against the home team, you have some idea of the problem of world peace.
