Well,
the Count's column creeps from the crypt for the last time. Next
week I wing my way back to my beloved Transylvania for the last
time. (I must remember to stock up on carbonated bat's blood and
no-cal candied eyeballs for my journey.) But I shan't depart from
the clammy corridors of WPHS without one more victim. And who
deserves it more than Neil Haldeman.
Neil hails from Sakcet's Harbor,
New York and has been living in Winter Park for seven years. His
greatest interest (besides Karen) is baseball and he's been playing
since he was old enough to pick up a bat it's been two or three
years at least). As a member of the famed WPHS Wildcat nine, Neil
has lettered for the past two years. Although he realizes that
his part record has been nothing but great, "Pig" Haldeman feels
that this is his best year. The third baseman has kept his batting
average above .300 most of the time and he leads the team in errors.
Most of you Wildcats will remember
it was sadly announced last year that Neil was moving to Germany.
Deeply grieved, the baseball team decided they would present Heart-broken
Haldeman with a baseball autographed by the entire Wildcat nine.
The team planned to surprise Neil by present it to him at an assembly.
It was a surprise all right. Neil skipped the assembly... and
then he didn't move to Germany!
Last year, Neil won the Orange County
Bar Association Essay Contest and brought great honor to this
school. His plans for the future include college but he doesn't
know where. Countdown salutes you, Neil Haldeman. You're a modest
young Senior that is bound to find success in life. And, oh yeah,
thanks for the 5 bucks you paid me to write this rot!... I shall
remain ghoulishly yours, Count Karlon Torgosi, R.I.P.

There
seems to be a trend toward brief descriptions, using as few adjectives
as possible. Whether this is due to a lack of proper adjectives
or a lack of adjectives on the part of the individual raised a
question in my mind, so I asked several people to describe in
only three words the thing that they know best -- THEMSELVES.
...Bill Ronay: handsome (?), dashing (?), debonair (?).
...Lynn Furr: tall, warm, and willowy.
...Ken Minameyer: nice, considerate, lovable.
...Marty Grove: I can't!
...David Farr: poor, stupid, and ugly.
...Anthony Barron: intolerant, egotistical, and intellectual.
...Susan Carter: blond graduating SENIOR.
...Mark Lobe: well-rounded and living.
...Maurine Doggett: Oh, get serious!
...Ed Fishback: French, debonair, undecided.
...Carol Streep: That's impossible!
...Chan Muller: the "nifty netter".
...Linda Schmidt: I'm out of (Sorry -- too many words!)
...David Smith: bored American boy!
...Suzanne McMillan: happy, homely SENIOR.
