Donna
and her husband Jack traveled about 1,000 miles to attend
the 50th class reunion. They have two children and three
grandchildren. Donna lists her favorite WPHS teachers
as"... Mr. Creech, who made learning enjoyable;
Mr. Groene (Bio), who taught me the most enduring
info; Coach Orr, who challenged me to deal with sterotypes
about girls and math." Her hobbies are the internet
and travel. Her favorite sport is walking. She told
us she has two dogs and one cat for house pets. Her
favorite vacation is a "cruise". When Donna
got down to the question, "What is left on your
bucket list?" she wrote, "I have to get this
in the mail - will e-mail the rest of the info."
(When we get that e-mail we will post the information.)

Subject: Update info
I finally retired on February 1
from over 2 decades of working in a large community
mental health center in northern Virginia, mostly with
seriously emotionally disturbed youth. I didn’t
appreciate at the time how exhausting the commute had
become (55 miles each way) until I stopped doing it
daily. I was surprised at how quickly I acclimated to
sleeping past 6:30 am! I have stayed active with neurofeedback
(“brain training”) and go back once a week
to mentor other therapists toward professional certification.
I have also become an approved trainer for the intensive
36-hour didactic training required for certification.
(I’ll do just about anything to avoid housework.)
I’m working on clearing out a bedroom to set up
a home office so I can donate time to work with veterans.
Neurofeedback is the most gentle and efficacious way
to treat PTSD. Perhaps it will also protect me from
senility! Jack and I will celebrate our 48th anniversary
this year (2017), and he assures me daily that life
after 80 is not so difficult but is tiring. He recovered
amazingly well from the very serious car accident he
was in 7 years ago and retired from teaching adult ESOL
classes last year after turning 80. Our daughter is
a doctor with an independent practice just outside Richmond
and has 3 boys. Our son is a clinical psychologist and
is the director of 2 satellite clinics for WVU; he has
2 young children (boy and girl). We hope to travel to
Florida more often now that we’re both retired.
My aunt is living at Winter Park Towers, and my mom
is in an assisted living facility in Tallahassee. THANK
YOU for all you do to keep this website going! Fondly,
Donna [Newberry] Creasy
