Happiest
memory: I guess my
fondest memories were those great parties every weekend...but
my favorite was the "The Little Party That Grew"
- grew into a STREET DANCE, that is!!
Funniest/weirdest
coincidence: After eight years of knowing one
of my dearest friends here in Atlanta and having many
conversations over the years about her brother and sister-in-law
(Steve and Joyce), I met them and, to my complete shock,
her sister-in-law is Jeannie Jones' sister, Joyce! (Incidentally,
they lived three doors down the street from me in high
school!)
Bio:
My life, over all, has been very good - with much more
happiness than sadness. I was married for eighteen years,
have three great kids - divorced for nine years.

Introducing...Donald
David Riddle
Dave is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. D. D. Riddle, 450 Clarendon Avenue. Following his
graduation from Winter Park High School Dave will attend
Florida State where he will prepare for a career in the
world of radio and TV. He was a member of swimming team,
Backstage Technicians, Thespians and stage manager for
the senior play. Dave lists skiing, skin diving and photography
as his hobbies. |
|
Riddle,
Donald David . . . "Dave", born April 6th, comes
from Orlando. He attended Leesburg High School before
coming to Winter Park. Swimming, skin-diving, girls and
electronics are among his favorites. His future is undecided.

Happiest
memory: Just before
I was to enter tenth grade, my father was transferred
and we moved to Leesburg for two years. While Leesburg
was super in many respects, my happiest memory was returning
to Winter Park.
Funniest/weirdest
coincidence: I "knew" that something
special was going to happen exactly one week after my
divorce was final. It did. My future wife walked into
my classroom, our eyes met, and viola!! We have been happily
together ever since.
Bio:
After high school, married, fathered two super children
and made marginal progress on the ladder of success. I
invested in several personal development courses, changed
priorities and career focus, and divorced after fourteen
years of marriage. While teaching one of the above mentioned
courses, the woman of my dreams walked into my life and
my priorities REALLY changed. We started a couple of small
businessess... the later proved to be "great learning
experiences." We moved to the mountains of NC six
years ago, started another small business that WE run
(as opposed to IT running us), that is quite successful.
We bought a modest home, some acreage, and now live very
peacefully in a sleepy mountain town of about 700 folks.
We spend time now enjoying the beauty around us, taking
long walks in the woods, travel, and each other. I'd like
to think that in ten (or thirty!) years, you'll find us
here, grinning ear to ear.
Future
plans and goals: Building environmentally compatible
"dream house" and investing in rental property
with a long range goal of a somewhat "active"
retirement.

David
and his wife Susan traveled 400 miles to attend the
50th class reunion. They have two children and two grandchildren.
David told us that his favorite teacher was Miss Peggy
Sells - she "Held the senior play barely together."
He lists his favorite vacation spot as Great Smokey
Mountain National Park. Left on his bucket list is to
take Susan to Italy. David's funniest and most creative
prank or practical joke that he participated in was
"learning how to lower ALL of the railroad crossing
gates in Winter Park from one spot". He was honored
as Dale Carnegie Instructor. What his favorite memory
of WPHS was "...hosting a Platter Party in the
Cafeteria, being WHOO DJ with Bob Giannini ('58) as
the "Night Creature" - riding around in Pat
Phillips' Model T Ford or cruising the "Steak"
with the windows rolled up (like we had a/c). David
also remembers "the WPHS auditorium fire (circa
1959), wild rides during the school bus "races"
to Signal Hill, being the "straight man" in
Jim Caccavo skits, flat tops at the "campus barber
shop", ordering a pine float at O'Brians Drug Store,
train ride to Sanford Zoo in 2nd grade, Bob Finfrock
making us all rubber band "guns" - ditto 2nd
grade."

Dick's
life from high school to present: In 1958
my father was transferred and I had to leave Winter Park
and move with my family to Clearwater. I attended Clearwater
High School. In the 9th grade I made the varsity baseball
team. I played baseball during high school and lettered
Varsity as a pitcher all 4 years. I made the All Western
Conference my junior and senior years. I attended St.
Petersburg Junior College and played baseball with a batting
average of .409 which was the batting average record that
stood until 2002. I had scouts look at me for major league
baseball but never made the cut. It was time to get a
real job. I was hired by True Value Enterprises as a clerk
then a store manager, and then I went into sales. I continued
to play slow-pitch softball catching the eye of the Clearwater
Bombers fast pitch World Champions and was asked to try
out for the team. I was fortunate enough to make the team
and played on three of their 10 World Championship teams
from 1966 to 1973. I met Kathy, my first wife, and married
in 1969. Kathy had a son Mike, that I adopted and then
we had our own son, Richard III, in 1971. I stayed with
Top Value for eight years and then went to GTE in 1973.
I worked for GTE Directories and sold yellow pages advertising
for 26 years and retired in 1999. During my time with
GTE, I climbed the corporate ladder and traveled a lot.
This was probably what caused my divorce to my first wife
in 1990. I met Judy, my second wife, at GTE where she
worked in another division. We got married in 1991 and
we have been married now for 15 years this August. Judy
is still working at Verizon (GTE) and has been there 19
years and plans on retiring in 3 years. We now live on
an island in southern St. Petersburg called Tierra Verde
in a condo on the water. We love to boat, kayak and fish.
We ride bikes and continue to try to have fun with all
of our friends. My wife loves to go shelling on the island
and rollerblading. We look forward to traveling and having
a long and healthy life. |
