Happiest memory: Sock hops in the gym, friendships that have lasted thirty years, slumber parties (we NEVER slept!), pride of walking through the "senior door", school spirit, Daddy's old white shirt worn with rolled up jeans and dirty tennis shoes!, riding in friend's convertible to Daytona Beach, the Platters, and of course-ELVIS!

Grandchildren: Landon, 8 months

Subject: Jeanne Williams Stanley update

Hi Anne:
Here's a quick update. In August 2015 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. They did a lumpectomy and treated it with radiation. PTL, I'm cancer free. With all those treatments I decided to retire from selling real estate. My energy level was low for several months so it proved to be the right decision. On September 1st, 2016, our house in Keaton Beach got flooded when Hurricane Hermine swept in off the Gulf. We lost everything in the house. Unfortunately we couldn't afford flood insurance so it was a devastating loss. We've been working with FEMA for some financial help but it's not nearly enough to repair and replace everything that was damaged. Roy is doing most of the repairs himself so it's going pretty slowly.

On a sunny note: when it's finished, we will have a "new" house.
In the meantime we are living with our daughter in Athens (GA) until we can move back in our home again. Tell everyone I said hello. Love, Jeanne

Terry Williams

Terry Adrian Williams

Happiest memory: Finishing
Funniest/weirdest coincidence: Pudd Mudd walked into my office at Shell Oil Co. in 1969. I had not seen him since 1961. He was also working for Shell, and neither of us was aware the other also worked there.
Children: Virginia, 25; Mitchell, 23
Present work and/or activities: UCF baseball assistant coach
Future plans and goals: Continue baseball coaching

Terry and his wife Nancy live in Oviedo, Florida, so their commute to the 50th class reunion was very short. Terry has two children and three grandchildren. He told us his favorite WPHS teacher is "...Bill Gordon - made it possible for me to go to college. Paid my SAT fee." Terry lists his hobbies as sports, TV, reading and fixing things. His favorite sport is golf. (We were all very happy to see Terry and Nancy for the 50th class reunion weekend.)

Introducing...Richard Clarke Winslow
Dick is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Winslow, 1244 Mayfield Street and will graduate with the class of 1961 from Winter Park High. He was vice president of Key Club, Student Council representative, in the cast of the senior play, a member of Varsity club and baseball team. Dick will study Forestry at Sewanee. Winslow, Richard Clarke . . . "Rich" would like to be ship wrecked with Nancy Wingate . . . was born here in Winter Park, July 14th . . . favors baseball, football, sports, hunting, riflery and Italian food. His philosophy is to LIVE . . . Future includes college.
Source: WPHS Senior Salutes, 1961.
Happiest memory: The happiest memory of WPHS was when I was called out of English class my senior year to learn that I had been accepted at Sewanee. Other than a specific moment, there was the "ambience" of being a student at my home town's high school-the same school from which my parents, brother, cousins, etc., graduated-with an especially congenial group of fellow students, with many of whom I had shared a classroom since first grade.
Funniest/weirdest coincidence: Changing diapers at age 48!
Children: Justin, 19, Robert, 2
Spouse: Carrie Ashton
Present work and/or activities: Work includes managing 60,000 acres of forest and mineral assets, reclamation activities, real estate sales, and general land management duties
Bio: Despite a disastrous freshman year, I graduated from Sewanee in 1966 with a BA. A master's from the University of Florida followed in 1969, after which I left the sunny, warm south to become Technical Director for a forest management consulting firm in Milwaukee, WI. Much to my surprise, I loved Milwaukee, but left in 1975 to take a job allowing me to live in Sewanee, TN, my old college town. I'm still here, and continue as Land Manager and Forester for Tennessee Consolidated Coal Company. Work, conservation, and professional associations and an infant boy (ESPECIALLY the baby boy) take up most of my time these days, but occasionally I travel, and have taken up flying as both a hotty and as part of my work. Married in 1968, and again in 1984 (divorced in between!) to Carrie Ashton, who is Outgoing Club Director here at the college.
Future plans and goals: Consulting/Real estate when our coal reserves are depleted-about five years.

He told us that his favorite vacation or vacation spot is the U.K. Left on his bucket list is to travel northern Italy and New Zealand.

DID YOU KNOW? (as of 2006)
Husband
: Tracy
Children: Todd & Laura; 1 granddaughter
Present work and/or activities: I currently work in home health.
Bio: After high school, I attended Salem College (a women's college in Winston-Salem, N.C.), Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and graduated in 1965 from the University of Florida. I earned a B.S. degree in Nursing. I was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority at SMU and the University of Florida (along with Pat Stephenson and Susan Chase from our WPHS class). I was honored to be Sweetheart of Kappa Sigma fraternity at Sewanee: The University of the South. After college graduation, I obtained a job as a nurse at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Grady Hospital was a large, inner-city hospital/trauma center and teaching hospital for Emory University School of Medicine. I loved my job--and loved Atlanta--a stunningly beautiful city! I came back to Winter Park, got a job, and in 1969 met and married my husband, Tracy. We have lived in several cities in the Southeast, including tiny St. Cloud, the community near Kissimmee. We have two children. Our married son Todd (no grandchildren yet) works as an Assets Allocation Analyst in the financial industry. Our daughter, Laura, formerly a student, is married to a PhD candidate at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. Her husband aspires to be a pharmaceutical research scientist. His research work to complete the doctoral dissertation involves Alzheimer's disease. They have one toddler, a little daughter who is 1 1/2 years old, and expect a second child in late spring.
Future plans and goals: I hope to be able to retire some day---and learn quilting. Additionally, I would like to get back to oil painting which I so enjoyed years ago. And----I would like to raise roses!

I believe that those of us who were privileged to spend our formative years growing up in Winter Park were blessed indeed. The decade of the 1950's and early 1960's, our coming of age years, were spent in an idyllic small town which had a wonderful ambiance--beautiful lakes, lovely homes, a charming downtown---Park Avenue. Additionally, we had terrific schools, with exemplary teachers. Click HERE to read more from Nancy Ann dated 1/20/2006.

Nancy lives here in Orlando. She developed 'shingles' just before the reunion and was unable to attend. She did have her 50th reunion questionnaire completed and on file, however. Nancy has two children and two grandchildren. She told us her favorite WPHS teacher is "...Mrs. Blickman as she encouraged my interest in reading Russian novelists such as Dostoevsky, etc....and indeed in being a life-long reader. I wish to add Mr. Creech as well for his being responsible for my interest in government and the history of our nation...." Hobbies include cross stitching, needlepoint, reading and would love to get back to oil painting. Her favorite vacation spot is the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina - her home state - as I am a "Tar Heel". Nancy told us that she was chosen to be Sweetheart of Kappa Sigma fraternity at Sewanee - the University of the South. Nancy has added the following...."I recall being so moved and emotional on that hot, humid evening at Mead Gardens when our class, the Class of 1961, graduated. To see all of our classmates with whom we had been friends and acquaintances for many years - and now moving on in life - was very, very poignant and deeply affecting."
