Thomas Morgan Turner

Introducing...Thomas Morgan Turner
     Tom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Turner, 14 Country Club Drive and will graduate with the class of 1961 from Winter Park High School. A transfer student from Milwaukee, Tom was a member of the Latin Club, Cavaliers, basketball team, Wisconsin conservation representative. At WPHS he was a member of the Thespians and had a part in the Senior Class play. His hobbies are tennis, golf and deep sea fishing. Tom will major in Social Studies at Rollins.
Turner, Tom . . . a Miami boy, Tom takes to basketball and golf. He's especially good at the first listed because of his convenient height of 6'6". He loves to fly (?), and spends much of his time with sports. Steak, ham and beer add to the finer pleasures of life for this blue-eyed guy. He is hoping to attend Rollins College after graduation.

Introducing...Sandra Lee Uber
     Sandra is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Uber, Maitland and will graduate with the class of 1961 from Winter Park High. Tri-Hi-Y, Future Teachers and French Club were among her high school activities. Sandra will study Psychology at Florida State University. Her hobbies are skiing and swimming.
Uber, Sandy . . . This green-eyed, 5'2" gal takes a likin' to swimming and tennis. Apple pie and Cokes are also rated high on her list. She thinks one should "live and let live!" Secretly, Sandy would like to ba a skindiver . . . we bet she's got a crush on Mike Nelson. She will be attending Stetson this fall.

Fran Ussery Morrisey
Introducing...Frances Ann Ussery
     Fran will study Industrial Psychology at Barry College following her graduation from Winter Park High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Ussery, Maitland. Fran is a Student Council representative, member of Tri-Hi-Y, Science and W clubs and National Forensic League. She also served on the Wi-Pa-Hi-Sc staff.

Fran lives locally and did not have far to travel to attend the 50th class reunion. She has two children and four grandchildren. Her favorite WPHS teacher is Julie (Seibert) Rankin ..."because she has now become a great friend". Her hobbies are traveling, grandchildren, and volunteering at church. Football is her favorite sport. Although Fran has traveled to many places around the world she told us her PURE vacation is New Smyrna. She remembers toilet papering Robin McKenzie's house in those high school years.

Stevan Michael Van Ore

Introducing...Stevan Michael Van Ore
     Steve will begin a Pre-Med course at Rollins College this fall after his graduation from Winter Park High. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Van Ore, 1283 Harding St. A member of the Band for four years, Steve is also a member of Key Club and received the Rotary Merit Award in the 9th grade. He belongs to National Honor Society, Science and Latin clubs. Steve devotes his leisure time to music and water skiing.
Van Ore, Steve . . . Known for his active work in school and with the band, Steve also likes skiing, swimming, and running . . . but he didn't say from whom! Steve dislikes brownies and cliques in school. He remembers more than anything else at WPHS, the time when flagpole sitting was made popular by a member of the sanitation committee. His ideal situation is a drive-in movie with no screen. He looks forward to college and marriage.

Introducing...Lee Van Wormer
     Lee is the daughter of Mrs. Olive S. VanWormer, 114 Park Ave., South. She is president of the Pep Club and treasurer of G.A.A. Her main outside interest is Scouting and she is an active Girl Scout. Lee's plans for the future, following her graduation from Winter Park High, are still indefinite.
Van Wormer, Lee . . . "Slugger" . . . with her light brown hair and blue eyes is a great fan for sports, be it basketball, volleyball, baseball, or football. She enjoys camping trips. The Golden Rule is what Lee goes by in everyday life matters. Her very, very secret ambition is to be a football coach. (Look out, Coach Mosher, your competition is coming!) Lee is going to FSU and major in physical education.

Rosemarie Vardell

Introducing...Rosemarie Vardell
     Rosemarie will enter Temple University to study Dental Hygiene following her graduation from Winter Park High School. She has been both a JV and Varsity Cheerleader and a member of Tri-Hi-Y. Rosemarie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Vardell, 2361 Roxbury Road. Her hobbies are music, skiing and swimming.
Vardell, Rosie . . . This 5'1-1/2" green-eyed gal spends a lot of her time with music. She is also entertained by horseback riding and bowling. (We hear she's pretty good!) Pizza and 7-Up add to the enjoyment of Rosie. She vividly recalls S.W. sitting in the middle of a cactus bush. Her philosophy is to "Try to find some good in everyone". College and then marriage are next on this cute little gal's agenda after high school.

Vic lives locally so he did not have far to travel to attend the 50th class reunion. He worked with classmates on the 50th reunion committee and a week after the reunion he hosted the Class of 1961's Picnic in the Park table and greeted members from all classes from WPHS. Vic has two children and one grandchild. He told us his favorite teacher is Dr. Bender because he made a difficult subject interesting. Vic's hobbies are genealogy and bicycling. He enjoys watch football games. He told us that his favorite vacation spot is Istanbul, Turkey. Left on his bucket list? Well, Vic said there is too much to list.

Introducing...Helen Janice Vinson
     Helen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Vinson, 1319 Orchid Avenue and will graduate from Winter Park High School with the class of 1961. She has been a Library assistant and her hobbies are swimming and bowling. Helen will follow a career in the business world.
Vinson, Helen Janice . . . Saving pictures of Fabian is Helen's favorite past-time. She also likes to indulge in swimming, hamburgers, and R.C. Cola. She's dying to be ship wrecked with Jim Ivey, and her ideal situation finds her sitting on the beach with him on a day when there's nobody around for miles. Helen plans to work as a secretary at Martin, and then marry Jim.
