Bonnie's hobbies are eating-anything, dreaming, playing piano when she has the urge and just plain being sweet. Her favorite sports are tennis, riding, and swimming. Bonnie's ideal situation is to be on Cloud 9. She likes carrots, apples and all the fattening foods along with orange juice. She doesn't like diets and people who won't yell at the football games. A tall, blue-eyed blond is what she would like to have on the tropical isle. Bonnie's most memorable event at Winter Park High School was the time she went to the 1959 prom with "FeFe". DID YOU KNOW? (as of 2005)
Happiest memory
: from WPHS? Ever? If WPHS, probably the experience of being in the band. If ever, probably the two years that my first wife, two boys, and I spent in Germany from 1983-1985 when I taught for the University of MD - European Division.
Funniest/weirdest coincidence: Probably in the summer of 1984 in Stavanger, Norway. We were eating breakfast at a small hotel. One of the boys had a Sewanee T-shirt on and we were talking about Sewanee. A man at the next table came over and introduced himself. His daughter had been one of my freshman advisees the year before; he was bicycling in Norway.
Family: Wife Carolyn Fitz, married in 2000. Son Joseph C. Bordley, 35, lives in Sewanee, TN on 'the land', a land trust that is interested in sustainable agriculture. Partner: Marianne Tyndal;
son Lawson S. Bordley, 32, lives in Huntsville, AL. Is getting ready to return to school to get a degree in civil engineering, interested in city planning.
    Three children of Carolyn's - her daugher Anneli Virkhaus has lived with us and is our dependent, now a junior at Hendrix College, in Conway, AR. Vello Virkhaus does professional animation work for big-name performers and does VJ work. Tarmo Virkhaus is a cook in Denver.
Grandchildren:   None, but four cats
Present work and/or activities:  Just finished 35 years at Sewanee: The University of the South. F. B. Williams Professor of Chemistry - also just ended 10 years as department chair (www.sewanee.edu/chem). Remain active in music: play the organ at my church, play bassoon in the school orchestra, and play the carillon (www.sewanee.edu/carillon)
Future plans: Will be on sabbatical leave during the 2005-2006 school year, working on a text for the Chemistry and Art class that I teach, a lab course for non-science majors and simultaneously will be a student at the Royal Carillon School in Mechelen, Belgium. Will probably teach full time through 2009 and then start a three-year phased retirement. Definitely want to have worked here for 40 years.
Comments: One of my students couldn't remember the URL for our (Sewanee) class website, so he did a Google search and found our WPHS class website. He wanted to know who Kathy Browne was!

John wrote that he has five children between him and his wife Carolyn and they have one grandchild. His favorite teacher was Jack Williams because in his extremely laid back style he encouraged band members to be leaders. John's hobbies are gardening, music and travel. He lists his favorite sport as ping pong. John and Carolyn have two cats. John's favorite vacation spot is western North Carolina. His bucket list is a trip to Hawaii, Greece, Belfast, Romania and Hungary in spring 2012.
